    MEP report post Hurricane Michael

My 803 ran 53 hours with nary a fault and consumed right at 1/2 GPH. We were on the front end of power restoration this time. :) There are still people in our county without power.

    Cheap 12V Diesel Transfer Pump

This LINK looks like the same pump I have. The strainer and inlet hose looks a little different. Note: The nozzle included is NOT an automatic shutoff nozzle. Not a problem if you pay attention to what you are doing. If you will be using a 55 gallon drum you might also be interested in my...

    Cheap 12V Diesel Transfer Pump

This unit I have is still working fine at a year and a half. I don't have a model number but I've seen the same unit on ebay and Amazon.

    Load Bank?

UL listings aside I do have a couple of spaces left in my panel which is located in the corner of my garage. I could always add a range outlet and plug my load bank in for additional heat if I needed it. ;)

    Load Bank?

When I search ebay I always check the USA only box, the buy it now box, then sort by price to find the lowest cost. My elements cost $71.80 which comes out to $17.95 each shipped, My homemade load bank is nice but if I were doing it over I would probably consider a couple of 240V garage heaters.

    My MEP-803a experience

Glad you came through the storm okay. Let me know if you want any help with the return lines. I used Gates fuel line that was in stock at O'Rilley Auto Parts. The 1/8" (3.2mm) is part number 27000 and the 1/4" is 27002. Both were $1.39 per foot. It was a snug fit and seems like it should...

Much easier to get the 1/8" Gates fuel line from O'Reilly's. That is what I use on mine.

Fuel storage, 55 gal drum, vent adapter, moisture trap, drieriete

I was thinking you could use the Goldenrod on the vent side instead of or also on the fuel side. Nothing beats a good additive regimen. I use Killum biocide and Stanadyne lubricity formula. Coming up on cold weather I throw in some anti gel and cetane booster.

Fuel storage, 55 gal drum, vent adapter, moisture trap, drieriete

I just used an air compressor filter on mine. My pickup tube leaves 5 gallons in the bottom of the drum so I suck that out with a small pump and check for water after I use the rest of the drum. So far I haven't found any. The simplest way if you are concerned about condensation is to just buy...

    MEP-803A sipping fuel.

Just got power back on. Only 52 hours run time after a hurricane is a record for us. The last two storms we were out from 4 to 7 days. Still a lot of folks in our area to go. Last year they had all but a few hundred when ours was restored so it's good to be on the front end for a change.

    MEP-803A sipping fuel.

I haven't done ANYTHING compared to you folks that had to rebuild. I still think people are better off buying units with a couple thousand hours on them. Seems I've read about more major problems on the low hour units.

    MEP-803A sipping fuel.

When I started with Rainey Cawthon they said their minimum was 60 gallons. I had emptied my drums and a couple of cans so I got 109 gallons this morning. You don't save much if any over pump price but it beats toting cans. Mine was about $3.13 per gallon after sales tax was added. I have some AG...

    MEP-803A sipping fuel.

Hour 43 = 21 gallons. At one point yesterday I had it loaded to 52 amps on L1 and 54 on L2. I had used most of my reserve fuel in the tractors so fuel delivery is on the way.

We have some limbs down and one hanging on the power lines but no house damage. Our daughter's in-laws have a tree through their roof. Can you say dead short!

    MEP-803A sipping fuel.

You bet! Gen has been running 16 hours straight and consuumed less than 9 gallons. Temp steady at 178, oil pressure at 22, no leaks, and charge indicator on zero. Fuel gauge not moving far off full. May need to check that out but i check everything before it could possibly get empty and top...

    MEP-803A sipping fuel.

Went out to look over my 803 after 4 hours running and topped up the tank. It only used a gallon and a half. Wasn't running the AC so that might account for it. I have left the well on but it probably doesn't cycle very often till we shower. I have done some baking and turned on the AC since...

    Td 14

Yeah, Might be evac time. We got lucky when Kate hit as a 3. Had 3 pines go down and 25 right across the fence. None hit the house. Neighbors had their front porch ripped off and relocated in the back field. I stayed in town for that one and had to help cut three sections of hwy 90 open to get...
