The reason you tow your m1009 home not drive

Where'd ya get your M1009? Private seller or dealer? I ask because mine came from a dealer in Cairo.

    M1009 as temporary daily driver

I've put 4k miles on mine in the couple months I've had it. I have had no problems aside from a few old bulbs blowing out. Check your fluids, carry extra hoses and belts (as you mentioned) and keep an emergency tool set in the back and you should be fine. I also keep a jug of water just in case.

    Engine modifications - bottom end

Thanks, Ken. This makes sense. It's just that I'm used to the idea that (on gasoline) turbo charged engines, when you run lean you see higher EGTs. If you add fuel, it soaks up some of the heat during the exhaust stroke, leading to lower EGTs. You answered my question completely. I think the...

    Engine modifications - bottom end

I follow you, but I guess I still don't follow how turning up the fuel on a non-turbo diesel will raise EGT temps. Is it due to the extra power being made? At what point does the engine see diminishing returns on adding fuel? The point where it falls apart? The point where volumetric efficiency...

    Engine modifications - bottom end

Well...I am thoroughly confused. Perhaps gasoline engines aren't this way after all...? Or maybe this case is particular to diesel engines. I'm too tired to look it up at the moment, but I have some research to do! Thanks TyJustice for the info!

    Engine modifications - bottom end

I'm the furthest thing from a diesel expert buuuut....won't more fuel = richer AFRs = lower EGTs? This is certainly the case in gasoline engines and unless I'm missing a huge link in the chain I imagine basic principals of thermodynamics carry over.

    Plug / Grommet Hole

I spent a couple bucks on some rubber seals at Advance Auto. If my memory serves me, they were generic "Master Cylinder seals." I ran some weather stripping epoxy around the outside and stuck it in. Works like a charm! Doesn't match the other side but it keeps the water out. Just tell...

Thanks for the warm welcome, all. I'll do my best to get to the rallies, sounds like a great time. And I'll definitely get in touch with all you local guys, maybe you can help me out with a few parts I need! In response to jrou111, I live right down the road in McCalla. We should go riding...
