After a little more research I read on here that these plugs in the block are not accessible as they are behind the motor mounts. Is this true?
Also, I need to know the best way I can get the right coolant/water mixture back in the system. Right now I am probably running 20/80 coolant to...
I finally got around to changing the belts and coolant and heater hoses on my 1008. I flushed the cooling system and went to fill the system, but this is where I ran into a problem. The system capacity is 24.8 quarts, which of course comes out to a little over 6 gallons, so I bought 4 gallons of...
I ran the wire from the terminal on the relay that the blue wire is attached to. The only reason I did this was to keep the original harness in tact. Either way is really easy. It was about a 20 minute job, and 10 minutes of that was trying to drill a hole in the dash for my button using my...
Did the doghead relay mod, added a manual glow plug switch, and replaced my window channel felts this weekend.
After I get all of my fluids and filters changed (hopefully next weekend), my 6' superlift and 37" humvee tires are going on 8-).
I admit that I am bad about wanting to replace all of the minor things that I find wrong with the truck as well as other thingsof mine. I have to remind myself that this is a 25 year old truck that I bought to play in the woods with and was never intended to be put back to perfect condition.
FYI, on the parts finder on Bosch's website they list the part number for the nozzles as 0434250105. This is what it gave me when I put in 1985-Chevy-K30-6.2 diesel. I imagine both will work though...
Well I guess I will take my chances with it for now. I don't think I have that much spare time do to everything that is being suggested all at once. I still have more urgent needs that need to be addressed on the truck. When the water pump does go though I guess I will take a look at all of the...
I will be changing the belts and hoses and flushing my cooling system on my 1008 this weekend (hopefully). To my knowledge there is nothing wrong with the water pump at this time (leaks, bearings, etc). For all I know it may last another 50,000 miles, but I cannot bring myself to fully trust a...
IMO I would drop the pan on your current transmission and give it an inspection before I concluded that it was toast. I know there was a guy where I live that had this happen to him and it turned out to be a clogged filter. It may not hurt to try this before swapping trannys.
Thanks for the replies. For now I am going to use the steering block and drop pitman arm and see how it goes. I can always upgrade in the future. This cheap crossover is intriguing though....
I am going to install a 6" lift on my M1008 in a couple of weeks and have a steering question.
After looking through several old threads, it seems that the general consensus is that crossover steering is an almost must if you are going to be running a 4" or larger lift. I was planning on...
Hello all.
I picked up a M1008 Friday and have been driving/enjoying it all weekend. A couple of problems have already surfaced, but I have found plenty of good information here already to fix my problems (death wobble and alternator). I have also ordered a 6" lift and plan to run 37" Humvee...
