I usually run my M1009 with Stock drivetrain about 95 km/h max ...but I did 120 km/h ...once :D Maybe with other tires...mine are fully Offroad and a bit bigger than the Stock ones...33x12.5 ^^
Batteries are ok, but I get only 9v to the GP Relay (the small stud), if I manually ground it then it does nothing. Hooked it directly to a batterie then and it still did nothing. Measured resistance between the small studs: Endless Ohm. I guess the relay is broken ...
I think the voltage on the GP relay top post only drops to 12.x V when current is flowing? ..thought I read somewhere something like that. I measured it with ignition off, as soon as is go into "on" that relay goes rattling... and ye, shipping from US might be again the better idea... when done...
that was my first thought also, but I had them both in my daylie driver, there were never any issues, started good at -20°C etc. but I take them to a shop and see if ones bad...would be my preferred "fail" ...I really dont know how expensive & maybe impossible to get, GP controllers etc. are...
Ok now i unwrapped the contacts on the doghead relay, recrimped the 24v supply (it was not 100% tight) , Voltmeter on Batteries shows 25V, red supply on starterrely shows 25V also, so cables & grounds should be good.
I then put key in "on" again and this time I found out that I misheard the...
Hey Steelsoldiers!
I did the Doghead relay mod and today I put the Batteries back into the CUCV. Voltmeter showed 25.6V with Ignition off.
So i got in the truck and put the key in, pushed it into "on" and glowplugs started cycling, like they used to do before the Winter. Everything normal so...
Because you can forget Auto-Part stores here...I once wanted to get a Fuel-Pump relay for my 27yr old BMW nd those guys there didnt even know what I was talking about...I had to search it on his computer by myself (found in likely 10 seconds, lol) ..I guess their more into selling wiper blades &...
Did the doghead relay mod today, took some time & work to get the "original" doghead relay shipped to me from the U.S. ..ordered some more stuff (like every U.S. shipment I do :D)
did not start her up, batteries are still out.but the weather here gets better & better so I really want to get the...
finally did the doghead relay mod today, weather was nice so if there werent other things to do Id worked more on the CUCV...changing brake calipers, rebuilding the drum brakes, putting in a new master cylinder etc....all that still needs to be done... Im curious how it will start now, there...
maybe your tank breather is clogged? when it gets emptier it creates a vacuum and the Lift Pump (probably some worn Seals etc.) has to work harder and you loose the Fuel there?
when you drive the tank empty does it make "shhhhhhh" when you open the cap? ...
we have a wheel loader at work ...
Lol never thought of using Boschs.... but yeah they are pretty much next door *lol* ... lets see if it turns out that they have those gp´s aswell...that could save some german CUCV owners some money :P
but the package was on the way anyways, some "feet" wires, blade terminals, etc. (tools...
true that, but since they take like 15$ here for 1 No-Name plug (some "shops" even declare CUCV Gp´s as 24Volt glowplugs....) therefore I decided to get some ac60g shipped with the Relay, also new blade terminals etc. ....when I order something from U.S. the package grows bigger & bigger with...
na. nothing... not even 2 sec of cranking and she runs fine idle ....no smoke either ... and that after 2-3 months of sitting ...just tank filled & then parkd& shutoff, not even disconected the batteries :D ...well I cant wait to put in the doghead relay & see if she fires right up ...we have...
thought the same, because there are no "G3" glow plugs anywhere ^^ well hope I get mine out without problem....yet not tried to remove one.... but I assume with almost 15sec glowing time on 20°C ...there should be a change done :D ... never had any starting problems though
Hey, I just received my package from the U.S. , I ordered Ac-Delco 60G glowplugs, a "doghead" relay and some stuff (blade terminals, wires, etc)
On the glowplugs I can read : AC DELCO G3
0 100 271 107 10.5 V
did I get the right glowplugs or did someone...
my cab is closed. Its a Single-Cab M1009 now... pre owners welded a Steel Plate into it & cut the backseat out. I Think about cutting a hole into the cabin back, so I could maybe put in a M1008 Rear Window... Since my papers say my M1009 has 3 seats, I´d like to replace the Seats with the M1008...
Welcome, when I replaced my Fuel Filter my CUCV wont start too, same symptoms like yours, return line got fuel but I somehow had Air still in it: because I was alone I had to crank&watch the hose from the bleeding screw at the same time, after a few trys without start..one got just a rough idle...
mine sits fueled to the top and batteries are out (sometimes 1 is in the Audi to be charged ...change them sometimes :D) ...and the only snow it saw came through the ventilation of the garage when we had a snowstorm.... i cant wait to fire her up again and drive over the field paths here..
