did you crank it with glowing & no start after that? if you crank/glow without start you kill the GPs... and are the AC delco not known for being better than wellmans? maybe you just got badluck....
make sure your batteries are fully charged, does you truck stay outside in the cold? without good working glowpugs its getting harder and harder ..the colder it gets...if its inside a garage try putting a heaterfan under the engine oil pan, let it warm up..if it starts up then...you know its the...
well here in germany I heard of a guy who buys the 6.2 Diesel engines from the army, and he could only get the ones from CUCV´s, because the sorted out HUMVEES are crushed by a 100t Excavator..driver sheds tears when he has to destroy Runners with 10k miles...just because its forbidden to sell...
just got emailed that my U.S. order is now rdy for shipping to me ... cant wait for my "doghead" relay, wires & blade terminals for the AC DELCO 60g GP´s, and some "special" tools to arrive... so mainly I did today was : M1009 Office work....when you cant just walk into a "Napa" or something...
welcome from south germany, did you make sure it has the right torque converter on it? you said its from another m1009, so should be right one but are you 100% sure? if its a th400 from a Gas engine it will run higher rpm until shift...diesel deadline is 3600rpm I think... Gas engines go much...
Some Pics of my M1009 ... its a bit modified to match german tax laws better (loosing backseats makes it so much cheaper I could buy a rebuild IP from the money I save - every year.) so its now a single cab :D
those Batterie-Cans are really nice, I want some too :D ...cant wait for better weather over here...working in my small garage in winter isnt fun....when I drove to work yesterday even the Highways were covered in snow...me&my Audi 80 quattro were almost the only ones in the fast lane :D (all...
Hey, I buyed it with Tüv already, and the brushguard is NOT approvable...its edges are too sharp...(same goes for antenna brakets, forbidden also) as if thats a matter when you get hit by a CUCV...(its about pedestrians-safety) there are some similar looking civil ones built of round tubes, but...
does this only appear for M1008 CUCV´s ? I had my M1009 parked for about 2-3 months sometimes...w.o. disconnected batteries, and when wait light goes out she fired right up...sometimes even in the first crank o.O ..and I never touched that light switch :P
and for the thread starter: I do...
welcome from South Germany! Are those "idiot lights" staying on when the Engine is running? they should fade withing 5 seconds or so... if they stay on your System is not charged properly.
and: dont use starting aid fluid (ether) ... dont ask, just dont do it! Worst Case is a blown up engine...
Yeah well thats not really common to do so, but it happened (not like such a huge amout of it to blow up anything..just to scare off people who took several times :D) ..but if you need some and know the owner you may get really good prices on it, if they had to pay for removing the trees...
Took a picture of a "Fotographier & Film Verbot" (NO photos NO videos!) sign, what a rebell :D
And Ahab, better not touch the firewood, doing so is a really bad thing in germany ! ..people get really angry about that.. In some cases there are some lugs split, filled with blackpowder and then...
:D thought so ^^ btw I want to order a "doghead" relay and 9 AC DELCO 60G GPs (1 more to be safe) and some 1/4" fem blade terminals to make the new GPs fit. Do I need another GP Controller or can I just put them into the stock system?
ether wont make a gp swell. overheating them does (or simply having 1 worn out, causing the stock CUCV system to burn out the others 1 by 1 ^^) ..but: if you have starting problems and dont think much just use ether..well then you could assume that ether kills gps ...when you finally replace...
guess Ether wont ruin glowplugs, its destroying your enginge when too much of it gets in 1 cylinder and due to a glowing GP it misfires ..just like when you have a glowing grime nest in your gas engine...and it fires the gas/air mixture too early (like when piston is goin upwards) and thats too...
I do lock them even in Summer ..just sometimes for a few minutes to "keep everything running" ...for sure I dont engage 4wd on asphalt ^^ PO of my CUCV told me to lock them in Winter, so no jumping in&out while being stucked at a steep icy hill :P
and less Fuel mileage? rather keep looking on...
