    1. Depends on condition of the truck, relative rarity of whatever equipment is included, etc. I know you want a number to be tossed out, not gonna happen unless we can talk about a specific truck. 2. I drove mine home. But I bought it from a private party. Tow it, drive it, drag it, ship it...

Hard to start... what say you is the problem?

Bad glow plugs may show 0 ohms, or, more likely, they may show infinite (open circuit) resistance. Either way it's kinda a moot point, either the meter will show some resistance (good plug), or it'll peg at one end of the scale (bad plug). That said, the wait light is NOT a good way of...

Hard to start... what say you is the problem?

What happens when you try to start it? Do the glow plugs cycle as they should? Do the glow plugs check out to be in serviceable condition?

6.2 to sm 465 that a big block chevy is attached to?

The 6.2 (and, for that matter, the 6.5) were designed to go wherever a smallblock/bigblock would go. So the short answer, as FMJ so eloquently put it, is "yes."

You never know. Depends how many people they piss off, and how much they piss those people off.

I really can't stand that attitude. If enough buyers refused to buy, they'd have to do something.

Well, yeah. In which case they'll either fail and a better company will replace them, or they'll change, again, to maximize profits. The best way to stand up isn't to rant on the internet, it's to take action. The best way to force a change with any business is to choose to not do business...

Marginal cost. What is the marginal cost of making that extra $250- processing forms and whatnot, having staff around while customers load out, etc.? I don't know, and I suspect you don't, either, but I suspect that GL has determined that stuff above the $150/lot threshold is worth it, and under...

Who says companies/people are supposed to operate with a sense of morality? You? Me? Who defines that "morality?" Remember, "morality," and "good" and "bad" are all relative terms, and they're all very much up for debate. It's all relative. They're selling something. Don't like it? Don't buy...

As far as complaints about GL go, this has gotta be the least critical. "Bone us all for a profit?" I'm not a fan of GL by any stretch of the imagination, but puh-leeze. They're a freakin' business. OF COURSE THE GOAL IS PROFIT. If you want to live in a socialist country, move to North Korea...

    Off-Center Steering Wheel Fixed

That's with a free account, you can see all sections but only post in the all access sections. If you don't bother to sign up for even a free account, you can't even see much. Which is fine. It's what keeps the riffraff out and the forum good.

    wobbly crank pulley

Even if the two halves aren't (yet) slipping against one another, one can press around the rubber interface between them and see if the rubber feels new/pliable or old/degraded/falling apart. If the latter, even if it's not yet slipping, it's likely that it's not doing it's full job of...

    wobbly crank pulley

Mine was showing slight decay, so rather than replace it out of need sometime in the future, I replaced it within weeks of first getting the truck. It's a pretty common issue with the 6.2/6.5, and really ANY balancer of this age. The difference is that diesels need more balancing than gassers...

    H1 wheels on M1028

The other option is to mount the 37" tires on a more appropriate set of wheels, with or without beadlocks.

    H1 wheels on M1028

I think when the OP said "8 stud" he meant 8-lug. The 37" tires are commonly available already mounted on a set of wheels, which are often the 12-bolt beadlocks.

    H1 wheels on M1028

The biggest issue is the severe backspacing. You'll need (at a minimum) 2" spacers. I've heard rumblings about using dually hubs, but don't have any details. You don't need much lift for those tires, maybe 1" in the front, fender trimming should take care of most of the clearance issues.

    vacuum pump

They're out there, the 6.2 wasn't common, but it wasn't/isn't exactly rare, either. We have a couple yards here that tend to specialize more in trucks/SUVs and almost always have a couple 6.2s or 6.5s, just a recommendation to keep an eye out if you're there. If not, it's not a big deal, since...

    Insurance

Funny, Progressive wouldn't allow my M1008 due to the military/government VIN. No biggie, shopped around and found out that the vast majority of companies had no problem with it. There were a couple that didn't want to/couldn't insure it, but after getting a handful of quotes I went with another...

    vacuum pump

Another thing to try would be local junkyards. Whenever I'm in one and I see a truck with a 6.2 diesel and an automatic, I grab odd parts like that, just in case. They're usually dirt cheap.

Want to see pics of gov. locker in CUCV's

You should go with whatever gear ratio is the lowest that also gives you the cruising speed you want, as a general rule of thumb. Realistic cruising speed of a stock M1008 is 55, and even at that point, the motor isn't exactly happy. Were I outfitting a dual purpose K5, I think I'd go with 3.73.
