    M818 Broken Lug Bolt

Need some help. Broke a lug bolt on the front right today. What do I have to pull off to get to the back to replace it?

    M817 Brake Adjustment

Thanks J Cappel, Jr. for the answer. Safety obviously comes first. I just felt it yesterday and sent out the question. Working on the truck today.

    M817 Brake Adjustment

Yes, I do have manuals. Just asking if anyone has experience with the issue. My truck runs as a commercial truck, so it is a big deal to take it out of service.

    M817 Brake Adjustment

Is there an adjustment for the brakes? I have been hauling for some time and the petal seems to be getting closer to the floor.

Took the Plunge with a 5 Ton

Mark, I haul my CAT bulldozer with my M817. Your trailer will most likely cost you more than the truck. It is worth every penny to get a nice one, get one with good air brakes. Buy two military 24 V tail lights, put them on the back, and wire them to a trailer wiring harness (standard from...

Best back hoe trailer for M817?

Thanks. So the only military options would be for an 818. For now best to find a trailer I can make work to tow behind the 817.

Best back hoe trailer for M817?

I am more concerned about the pintle height/style difference. I was hoping for a military trailer. On regular deck over trailers the pintle is too low and too small to match up with my 817.

Best back hoe trailer for M817?

What is the best type of trailer to search for to haul a back hoe with my M817? Any idea where to look?

    Super Singles on front only

In the 5 Ton, the front axle is a "locker" style, it requires a good driver and must slip to engage. Slow and steady like the turtle. The deuce is totally different, it is like a 4 wheeler with the air locker - but, cannot haul near the weight of the 5 ton.

    Super Singles on front only

Does anyone have an idea where to locate the correct rims for kind of setup?

    Super Singles on front only

I have been told over and over that you have to convert the whole truck to super singles, but the other day I saw a 5 ton with 385/65R22.5's on the front with the stock duals on the back. Not sure where to find those rims for the front, but that looked to be the best setup.

Works on one fuel tank, not the other

Got it. Thank you. I need to make sure my 817 is labeled correctly. It was labeled by the previous owner and it has never worked on the drivers side tank. It may be wishful thinking, but maybe the off position is where he labeled that tank. Everything has been replaced for that side except...

Works on one fuel tank, not the other

My manual selector on the floor is marked for the passenger side at full clockwise, but at full counter clockwise it is marked for the drivers side tank, not off. I did not realize there was an "off" position. So you are saying at 45 deg. is the drivers side tank? I am not with the truck...

Works on one fuel tank, not the other

I have not pulled the suction line from the tank yet to check it. I will drain the tank, pull it, inpect the suction line. It is the only thing I have not done.

Works on one fuel tank, not the other

Just rechecked, the fuel lines are connected properly. Thanks for the advice.

Works on one fuel tank, not the other

No, really. Will it leak fuel? Hiss? What are the signs so I can use the process of elimination?

Works on one fuel tank, not the other

Yes, it is a M817 Dump Truck. I'll double check to make sure the lines are connected properly. How can I tell where I am getting air on that side?
