Not exactly sure where you're coming up with the axleshafts and brake hardware but still, not everyone can regear an axle or wants to. Last I knew the average to regear an axle was over $500. I'm lucky and know a couple guys who will do it for around $100-150 if I provide the parts.

6 lug version would make sense if he had a 6 lug front axle that already had low gears in it like 3.73's, 4.10's, 4.56's, etc to work with those 37's.
Since he doesn't, and his 14SF probably already does...and he owns it already...he's money ahead by just finding a matching 8 lug 10 bolt or D44...
14SF is a LOT beefier than a 10 bolt 28 spline. Not a 14FF but good for 37's if he's not going to hammer on it.
Also he'd have to regear his front axle to match whatever gear ratio he ends up with so might as well find a 3/4 ton D44 or 10 bolt and have 8 lugs and lower gears at once.
CUCV trucks got the standard truck step bumper while CUCV K5's got the standard "appearance" style bumper that civilian K5's and some high zoot half ton trucks got.
Other than the holes in the bumpers for the D ring brackets the CUCV's use standard GM bumpers.

The 14FF was used in the SRW 1 tons and the heavy GVWR 3/4 tons. Prior to 198...2 I think...all 3/4 tons got the 14FF. After that the "regular" 3/4 tons got the 14SF.

That's not factory. It was a dealer installed option you could get through your dealer but separate of GM's factory options installed in Flint, MI when the truck was built.

Although technically the Gov Lock is a locker it functions more like a very tightly locking limited slip.

GM considers it a half ton for marketing purposes. The military rated it by it's actual weight rating, not GM's commercial designation.
Aftermarket lift makers like that use GM's lingo since the vast majority of their customers have civilian Blazers.

Make sure the gear ratio matches the front. Will be 3.08 if stock. Civilian Blazers/Jimmys got that ratio commonly in the 70's and 80's but there were plenty of other options. Mine has 3.73 for instance. Seen as high as 2.73 and as low as 4.10 in stock half ton axles.
