Why the Deuce Doesn't Have These I'll Never Know!

What kind of good paying job can you get with a masters in philosophy? Ps, you are using the wrong definition of flaw here, RE. Of course knowing the right definition would require some kind of useful engineering experience or degree. Also please learn to use multiquote. This thread would be...

28 yr old hydraulic oil - should I use it?

long as it doesn't have moisture or dirt in it, dump it on in!

    Engine Advice

My engine storage prep for gassers: * cover intake and exhaust ports, distributor, water sensitive sensors if present, carb if present * clean and degrease * spray down with WD-40 or other suitable water displacing lube * remove spark plugs * spray small amount of WD-40 into each cylinder bore *...

Fuller 9 spds and Mack engines?

What's he want for 11.00x20s? I might need some too depending on how long it is before I can afford to supersingle my truck. I got a pile off craigslist a while ago but I am down to 1 spare.

Fuller 9 spds and Mack engines?

Is that the one I saw on CL for 4500 painted flat black? I tried to get a friend of mine to buy it but he decided to go with a 1 ton pickup instead.

stranded on i81 near wilkes-barre... free jeep!

Ended up having one of my NAXJA buddies tow it to Rausch, where I pulled everything I wanted out of it, then allowed most of NAXJA and whoever else wanted stuff to pull parts off it for free. What is left I signed over to Rausch, they are going to use the wiring harness and some other stuff to...

stranded on i81 near wilkes-barre... free jeep!

Called RC... they may want it for spare parts. We shall see. At least it is raining!

stranded on i81 near wilkes-barre... free jeep!

was hoping this would not happen. I was on my way to a jeep club event at rausch creek and the transmission in my 96 cherokee blew up - no movement in any gear. I will give the jeep, minus the tires winch and my personal belongings inside it, to whoever can get me and my stuff to the KOA...

Source for door latch springs ? ?

Got a pic or specs, particularly collapsed length and spring rate? There is a very good chance you can find something that will fit on McMaster with a bit of searching. Might not look original though.

    Fed up with batteries

^^ things like that are why I like brass battery terminals more than lead ones. They flex more without deforming, so they usually loosen up and come off of the posts easier than lead terminals do.

    My "new" M54A2

Got it home a few days ago! Fixed the bad oil leak and the oil pressure is more in a range I like now. Also put the replacement turn signal I bought off JB last year, a new window crank handle, new windshield seals, and some other random parts on it... figure the more parts I put on it, the...

    Massachusetts

There is a boneyard near me that supposedly has a bunch of old stuff, old trucks etc... haven't checked to see if they have any MVs mixed in. I need to check it out soon, some place just off of rt49 supposedly.

    some really stupid oiling questions...

that is exactly my thoughts, actually. Fixed the oil pressure somewhat, the oil filter housing that was leaking was causing a huge amount of that issue. Cranked it down tighter and it stopped leaking, then filled the oil completely and the pressure went up somewhat. Go figure  I still...

    some really stupid oiling questions...

that is good to know. I have been intending to buy a mechanical gauge for debugging electrical gauge issues for years now, will have to pick one up. My real worry on oil pressure is that I may have hurt the motor. The reason I had to swap the head gasket is - on my recovery trip from...

    question about a 5 ton

as stated above the multi will run on darn near anything except avgas and possibly ethanol. Keep it in the right viscosity range so the IP is happy and it will burn it. The cummins won't though from what I hear (no personal experience.) What M number is it? Sounds like an 800 or 900 series...

    Un-bob a deuce

On the deuce rear suspension this would result in some real problems, I would probably do everything to bob the truck except modify the frame and replace the bed, i.e. just change the suspension and pull the extra axle. It might look a little funny but it will have all the savings and all the...

    Un-bob a deuce

aren't you the professional engineer and welder or something? Butt welding a frame is the absolute worst idea ever IMO, you better be planning on fish plating it at the very least even if it is past the suspension. I would not put any kind of load in the rear of the bed or tow anything with it...

BAD fuel leak. Remove entire maniforld heater system?

If I want to do serious oil pumping I will be using the two ATF-rated pumps I pulled out of an old automatic transmission fluid changing machine my boss asked me to pitch in the dumpster in 2003. Yep, you guessed it, I ripped everything fun out of it (control boards, pumps, switches, nifty...

    Fed up with batteries

I think you may be confused, dmetalmiki. If there is a disconnect anywhere, no current is flowing, though voltage may be present. If you put a disconnect on either side of the battery, right at the battery, you will have no real danger. The issue that arises in a 24 volt or 24/12 volt hybrid...

BAD fuel leak. Remove entire maniforld heater system?

I would love to use one as that but I doubt they can handle the viscosity of motor oil, especially in the winter.
