I've never owned a CUCV but several of the civvy GMs of this vintage and if you don't keep the hood hinges lubricated well it really messes with the welds and can even cause the hood to buckle in the middle. So if you get the skin stuck back down, make sure to make the hinges slippery.

The pintle/ball hitches give you the flexability to pull a trailer with either a lunette or ball type tongue. Your pintle on the CUCV will work with lunette trailers only.

I saw a thread months ago in which the steering column was cut down to get the steering wheel away from the driver. I don't know how difficult this mod would be but its an option.
