Injectors! Testing, home made pop tester, results.

I'll try using a flashlight. Thanks. I read on other threads, members having issues putting exhaust and intake manifolds back on. I'm looking forward to driving my truck again, just not all the reassembly!! Lol. You using 1/2 drive torque wrench? Wasn't sure if the 1/2 would be big enough for...

oil drain plug gasket too small? what do I do.

I don't have the copper washer on my drain plugs. They leaked a little when I got the truck, so I just used black permatex. No issues ever since. I usually leave the permatex on there long enough to begin curing before I reinstall the plugs. Should probly get the washers for them, eventually.

How many gallons of paint do I need?

I used brushes. It takes a while but you get more coverage. The brush doesn't soak up all the paint like rollers. Spray paint works good but you don't get much paint. When I used paint thinner to clean my brush, I used the thinner with paint to cover more, though it was a really light coat and...

Driving with a blown cyl head gasket?

Don't drive it. Mine did that. The temp gauge didn't show it was overheating then it was too late. I melted a piston, bent a rod and locked up the motor. That was going easy and slow and allowing frequent stops to keep the engine from working to hard. Now it went from a simple head gasket repair...

Injectors! Testing, home made pop tester, results.

Can you see the holes in the injectors? I can't see any of the holes on any of mine, not sure of the exact type of injector I have. Also I have been redoing my heads and gaskets. Any tips as far as reassembling anything a certain way? This on my Deuce with the Hercules mf.

    Rear gerry can mounts

My uncle gave me an idea about a rear bumper. His idea was to use 1" thich steel bar thats 12" wide and 8' long welded on two pieces of 1" thick by 4" wide and 1 1/2' long that bolts on the bumperettes. At least it can be removed but not sure if it will pass any kind of inspection. I figured...

    Rear gerry can mounts

I was wondering, looking at the photo of the Deuce with flat tires after being rear ended, if anyone mounted or thought of a rear bumper that hangs low enough to stop a vehicle from going under the bed of the truck? I know thats why most semi trailers have low profile bumpers so cars don't go...

    Extreme RV from M36a2

WOW!! I just read all 331 posts in the past three hours!! D2 you are doing an amazing job. I know it's not finished yet but it looks great so far. Can't wait to see your build when its 100% !! I bet you can get a hefty price tag out of your camper if you ever decide to depart from it. I haven't...

Intake/exhaust port CFM flow? Porting the heads? Tech babble.

I think you have a good idea. Getting more power out of a multifuel. If you found out exacty how much air the stock turbos force into the engine, couldn't you just install a larger turbo that produces the air flow you want without other modifications to the heads? I guess I'm still trying to...

How many gallons of paint do I need?

It depends how many coats you apply. I know most people do at least two if not four coats to ensure longevity. I would assume two gallons is plenty, if not, get more, just keep record of your color so it will look the same. I used a quart of Rustoleum forest green. Thinned it out to a gallon...

    86 M35a2 with a '66 engine? Is this possible?

I hope you get you situation figured out. If I was you, I wouldn't put anything else into this truck. If it is stolen, or whatever, you would be putting time and money into something you might not legally own. Buying expensive items off of Ebay or Craigslist can be very risky. I always prefer to...

Change my oil and this came out the drain plug.

Hopefully you don't have any broken sleeves or melted pistons which are aluminum. I would think you would have a serious problem with you motor while running if you did, not sure what type of metals are used in the compressor or the turbo. Lots of investigating. . .

5 Ton Travels Flooded West Virginia Roads

Thats cool you used your mv to git-r-done! Lol. I like the video on youtube where the guy who had the mv's from gl used one to get a man down the road from him in a winter storm after the man had a heart attack. The ambulance couldn't make it, but the Deuce sure did. They may be toys and such...

What to look for in a deuce?

I did forget to mention a few things. You want to check the batteries, alternator, air compressor, the air tanks, fuel tank and pump, any leakage from gaskets through out the motor and fuel filter gaskets, check for bad axle seals and leakage, check brake and parking brake, test all the lights...

What to look for in a deuce?

I use to drive mine every day to work, the store, the smoke shop(cigarettes), and wherever I felt like going. I usually didn't have any issues. The best way to describe it, it's like driving around a box truck (uhaul,Ryder,Budget, etc) and imagine driving that everywhere. If you know how to drive...

    Thinking about buying a deuce

Best thing you can do is to stay positive, keep your burning desire for a deuce, don't worry about the "how" and it will come to you when the time is right. Don't give up, you'll find and get what you want. Just keep in mind, all trucks conditions vary, and the level of repair and maintenance...
