Thanks for the info. I don't think you sound like a prick. I appreciate your input. A buddy of mine is a mechanic and has experience with these motors. He told me almost the same thing. The problem is he is in Michigan where I came from. I try to talk to him as much as possible, but with both us...
Whattheduece- When were you thinking about making a purchase? From where or whom? Lot of us gave our opinions, but what I want to know, did this help you? Do you still have a burning desire for a duece and a half?
For other info and all markings, visit Olive Drab.com. I seen a link that clearly show all the different markings and interprets what they mean. There's all kinds of info about military vehicles and everything else in between. Hope this helps. God bless those who gave their lives for our freedom...
The only reason why I mentioned the tp for oil filter because I heard from multiple mechanics who work on farm eqipment, said the old school farmers do this. I don't know what or how exactly but I guess it's wise no to test on my truck. I'm spending a lot of time and money to get that old girl...
I did drive my duece every day. The one thing I can tell you is that you better be ready. They handle differently from other vehicles and when you go around town and go to places, you will need to improvise in small areas legally and remember the hieght of your truck, there's no drive through at...
After you drain it, are you cleaning the diff too? Did you ask the guy you're gettin from if he serviced the axles? Otherwise I would leave it be. Your best bet is to find out exacty what he did. Then I would make plans on what needs to be serviced. Everything is fairly easy on these trucks when...
That is different. Seems like he wanted to modernize it but I would think it be easier keeping the air intake up front facing the air flow while driving, but then again, you don't have to worry about snow or rain but I wonder how he braced it through the cab.
I forgot to mention, the first pic is before I did anything. It was dark when I took the other pics so you might have to zoom in on it. I think it came out well. The valves have small indentations now where the melted metal once was but they are nice and smooth now.
Well I got my heads cleaned for the most part. I took a photo of the one where the piston melted to it. I used my angle grinder with a course wire wheel. It took all the metal off after about forty min. I also used the grinder on the oil pan to clean the old gasket off. I sprayed my pan out with...
Sounds funny! How many people were trying to lift this deer? I have recoved deer by myself and it was no easy task. I used ratchet straps and my guns to get those darn things in my truck. If your truck has a winch, pull up the deer by the midsection till it reaches the bumper, then tie or strap...
I got my heads back home today, after inspecting them I noticed the melted metal covers both valves and the injector. I also found another broken sleeve as I was pulling the old head gasket off. The ring at the top of the sleeve was broke and didn't notice it until it came up a little as I...
Has anyone looked into hydrogen? I seen online, a book that shows how to make hydrogen safely and all the benefits from it. The kit is water with steel plates that have electrical wires to it. The only time it will produce hydrogen is when there is electricity supplied to the plates to create...
Always better to be safe than sorry. I sually just dumped oil in my tank I had from changing my oil, but after looking into doing it on a larger scale, legally, it seems to become more technical now days.
Also, how would you figure in road taxes for products like that? Even if you used your oil that you paid taxes on, you still have to pay road taxes? Good thing I haven't done that often, last thing I want to do is get in trouble by the law cause I was being an idiot. Lol. I need to do some...
I have looked into set up similar to what was described above. I figured attaching a filter on the hose then to the nozzle. I think I would probably get a pump that can handle the oil. I just haven't got around to it yet. Lately I use five gallon pales with mesh screen and furnace filter. Takes...
Well it's always nice to lend a helping hand. I always believed helping others creares good fortune in the future, sometimes there's that situation you're in and you need help, and long behold someone stops to help.
Also I didn't have no coolant in the oil. When she blew the head gasket and over heated, the lower radiator hose blew even though it did have a tear in it that I repaired with radiator tape but didn't hold to increase pressure. Also the coolant was entering the cylinder and was being burned. Im...
Ok then I won't use tp. I planned on using break clean. I didn't think about using the vasoline in the oil pump, i did plan on using it on the sleeve to easily install it from what I was told. My main concern is the metal chunks so I will be inspecting everything very well when I go to clean it...
