I recently purchased an M915A1 and have been looking at what likely spares I may need outside of the usual consumables as in filters etc.
One area that appears in many threads is that the electrical setup in these vehicles is not the most robust being a 24V / 12V system. The 100A alternator is...
I took the Scorpion to the Lexington, MA Patriots Day parade today along with my trucks. First time pulling the trailer and tank with the 5 Ton. Those hill climbs are certainly interesting!
I am about to fit one of these to my M923, http://www.hayesbc.com/?page_id=1065, has anyone else here on SS used one of these before. I plan on teeing off the gland hand to feed this along with a 24V to 12V converter in the cab. I have also built a 24V to 12V converter for the trailer lights.
Well I bought a CVR(T) an FV101 Scorpion.
It's currently down in TX but will be transported up to MA in the next couple of weeks.
I will post some better pic's once its home.
Many thanks to SS member Stalwart for being a sounding board and giving me much needed advice, thanks Stuart.
Here are a few pic's of my M936 that I had hauled up from Hattiesburg, MS. Stealth night delivery in a lot close to my house, neighbours got a suprise when the sun came up!
This weekend took the 5 Ton to the Burlington, MA Truck Day which is an annual event. CrazyWelder took his Deuce.
Seems that kids just love our trucks and the back of mine easily beat out a bouncy house any day of the week! There were long lines to sit in both trucks and it was a lot of fun.
I have watched the last two auctions and wonder:
Are people buying more than one so I can't have one....Grrrrr
Are people buying more than 2 so I can't have one........Double Grrrrr :cry:
Are the xtras a hedge for spares?
The MK14's I could see having a civiy use, the MK18's...

I have a blown ABS ECU, probably due to incorrrect shutdown sequence see
http://www.steelsoldiers.com/5-ton-up/90856-blown-abs-ecu-how-not-do-etc.html
So I was thinking of adding a DC-DC converter to power the two feeds to the ECU and therefore adding considerably more and better protection...
So, I may have blown up my ABS ECU in my M923. In talking with a guy at Haldex who it turns out, put together the kit for the MWO for the ABS on the M939 Series truck.
He told me that if the truck is shutdown incorrectly it’s likely that you will send a 100V+ spike down the 24v line and fry the...
I found some of these for the M939 trucks with ABS, this includes the modulating valve assembly and ECU.

PM if you want to know where and how much so as to comply with the rules.
So Wednesday I get a phone call to tell me the truck should be dropped off that night.
Quickly went to the insurance co. and got the forms I needed, RMV-1 and Antique plate form. The registry was a zoo and I was not sure I would make it before they closed. As luck would have it, I ended up...
