    Funny Idea

YOU ARE GETTING SLEEPY! YOU ARE GETTING SLEEPY! You could hypnotize tailgaters to follow you to the next truck stop and buy you a tank of Diesel!

    turn up the fuel....

018446 is the PDF# for the fuel injection pump TM if you want to find it on the govt. tech site. It is 7.67 megs, not bad if you have high speed internet. Slow speed, that is a different thing entirely. I have included it in the latest deuce CD manual. There were quite a few different pumps used...

    Rough running

Pull the injector. Put it in a glass jar with the fuel line hooked up. Crank the engine and let it idle (it will be LOUD with an injector out). See if any fuel comes through the injector. It should be a nice fine spray. If not, replace the injector. If crud made it all the way through the fuel...

    Soft top questions

Well, they went for more than I could swing. 64 brought $4500. add the 10% premium to that, sales tax, and it was up around $5300. Then fuel to NC and back, prolly $150, $5450 for the lot. That would be about $85 each. Still not a bad price, just more than I have burning a hole in my pocket at...

    Transfer Case - Slipping?

This is the manual I used: TM 9-2320-209-20-2-2, chapter 33. I am afraid the info is limited, if adjusting the linkages does not cure it, rebuild it!

    paint job cost

We used to scrub old dump trucks down with comet and a scrubbie pad. Let it dry in the sun and shoot a coat of paint. For a driver deuce, that would probably be quite acceptable. The flat and semi-gloss paints handle that prep extremely well. Take a soft wire brush on a drill or grinder and...

    Transfer Case - Slipping?

OK. According to the troubleshooting manual, check the shift linkage. Make sure the linkage is not bent or binding. Make sure it is properly adjusted and that the shift rod is going fully into position. Take out the tunnel cover to do this. If the trouble persists, overhaul the transfer case...

    Transfer Case - Slipping?

You could have some wear in the transfer case. The old manual transmissions used to pop out of gear when the shift drums and the roller bearings started to wear out. Popping out of gear under a load can be several things on a mechanical setup. The transfer case shifter could possibly be out of...

    deuce s-cam brakes

I just realized that the Milennium Reo is on E-Bay!! I wonder if he'll get his asking price? he sure put a lot of time and effort, not to mention $$$, making one Heck of a Deuce!! I like the dual braking setup, looks like he used all stock components.

    deuce s-cam brakes

How hard would it be to use the dual booster cylinder from a C-60 Chevy on the deuce airpack? Then you could split the brakes front and rear, like later model trucks.

    Soft top questions

I have no idea what they will bring, but there are 63 or 68 in the lot, at Camp LeJeune. I think the auction opens the 18th of this month. If I get them, I will figure what I have in them and give the forum members first crack at them for their personal use. I would like to salt a couple back...

    Soft top questions

All I know the cabs are identical on the old M-123, M-35, and M-52 series, so the tops all interchange. Are they the same on the M-813 5 ton trucks? The reason I am asking is there are a bunch of canvas tops for the 5 ton M-813 on GL, A4 condition, and I was looking at bidding the lot. Nice...

    weel bearings

If I Remember Correctly. The races are the same, inner and outer. The outer bearing has a smaller diameter inner race, to fit the stepped spindle. That is why you can flip the hubs to run singles on the rear. When the deuce was designed, a lot of thought went into parts commonality, especially...

Fuel filters, additives, water in fuel, bacteria, etc

We used Racor filters on the charter boat engines. I never had anything get through them, but we did get a load of algae laden fuel one time that stopped up 2 sets of filters on the way in.

    Multifuel engine filter interchange chart

When I worked on the boats, we changed filters every month, about every 300 hours. We had to fight algea in the fuel tanks, otherwise we could go 2 months with no problems (8V-53 Detroits)

    Multifuel engine filter interchange chart

The multifuel engine was designed to burn diesel. It will, with no adjustments, burn kerosene (jet fuel), or gasoline. It does not like gasoline, but it can use it. The engines will also burn a mixture of the above. They have a fuel density compensator that adjusts for the differing fuels. Some...

Deuce cab with hard top in Oregon

I need 2 doors and a windshield! Parts, parts, parts!!!! The hard top would be nice if it goes cheap.

    Deuce is home!!

I have found the fuel injection pump manual and am putting it on the deuce and 5 ton cd. I tried to find the turbo manual, but the numbers I had do not bring a result on the website.

    Front drive flange de-splining service

I don't see the Torrington bearings being necessary. In a tight turn, the axle/hub speed difference would be 3-4 rpm at most. A bronze bushing with a little grease will take that up with no issues. I think as a side item that you should be able to install the rear flange (splined) without...

Deuce cab with hard top in Oregon

All Look on E-Bay Motors under "Military Vehicles" There is a deuce cab and front clip, with doors and hardtop (no dent!). Looks good, only bringing $25 at the moment. If it wasn't at the far end of the country from me, I would be on it like a duck on a June Bug!
