    Rolling platform for the MEP-002a

I had thought about using "heavier duty" casters for two reasons. The first being vibration from the generator while running and the second being for robustness while rolling over cracks in the concrete ect. I decided to go with the ones I did because the only way to prevent abrasion from the...

    Rolling platform for the MEP-002a

Hey all! Me again, I wanted to share a quick value-add project that the wife unit and I completed this afternoon to make MEP-002a ownership a bit easier and if you’re like me will hopefully keep the wife unit off your back when it comes to having a thousand pound generator taking up space in...

    MEP002A Priming

In order to bleed the system you can just remove the fuel line (or crack it) which is going into the check valve down stream of the three filters. The check valve is the ~3" long cylindrical looking pipe fitting mounted horizontally in a P clamp typically with a 90 degree elbow on each end so...

How NOT to unload your MEP-002a!

Well I flushed the fuel system yesterday, then nice warmup. I flushed the fuel system by removing the fuel line at the joint behind the check valve down stream of the filters but before the injector pump. The check valve is the little fitting located below the oil pressure gauge typically with...

How NOT to unload your MEP-002a!

Well it looks like I may be in luck with the 2HN Batteries, there were no leaks from when they were horizontal. Manufacture date on the batteries is April of 2013 and Shipped date is May of 2013. Whoever maintained the generator labeled the batteries with a paint marker "NEW 11/6/13". I...

I wish you were in my garage on Wednesday night. You're exactly right!

How NOT to unload your MEP-002a!

Thanks for all the ideas, I never thought to have the fuel tank lined or to top off the batteries with distilled water before a charge. I'll check the motor mounts to see if anything failed, it's an awful lot of weight applied in a direction that the mounts likely were not designed for. Output...

How NOT to unload your MEP-002a!

Today I happily drove out to the local GL site to pick up my second MEP-002a. She appears to be a real gem aside from some scrapes and scuffs from being moved around a bit, the machine really loks to be in absolutely great condition. 90 hours on the meter, a recent service with new filters...

    Sparta WI Recovery Thanks

Well I made what is now becoming an annual pilgramage out to Sparta today to pick up my second MEP-002a. I was the last load out of the day and Seth met me promptly at the building to sign in. Seth placed the generator on a trailer for me using the fork truck and was able to get it placed...

    Sparta WI Recovery Thanks

I'll be headed over to Sparta to pick up my second MEP-002A. I spoke with Seth 3 times over the phone today because I was a wee bit excited (read: impatient) about my invoice. 1st call: I asked when I could schedule my load out. 2nd call: I thought I had a paid in full invoice but alas the...

    Marine Combat tent quick look

I'm a big fan of these tents. I've used them in both rain and snow and been able to keep myself and my gear reasonably dry. One thing that I really like is how you can stake down the rain fly and create a space large enough to store a flak and ruck on each side safely out of the rain.

New Member/Western North Carolina RE: MEP 003A

You may want to try posting a description of your dilemma in the Auxillary Equipment forum, where it'll surely get more attention :) http://www.steelsoldiers.com/forumdisplay.php?55-Auxiliary-Equipment

New Guy and a new generator and trailer

The URL did indeed go to a small imageshack upload of the image since anything larger was not allowed... I think I will keep it simple and just use the traditional SS upload tool.

New Guy and a new generator and trailer

Unfortunately when I posted the image above it made me shrink it quite a bit in order to add the URL. Do you think that the image is a wee bit tiny?

New Guy and a new generator and trailer

Thanks for confirming that you can see the externally linked image. How does the community around here feel about linking to an image hosting website in lieu of attaching files directly to SS? In the past I've found that some communities frown upon it.

    Stuck bows on M116A2 suggestions?

Touche' Well here's an image of how they turned out. The only bow I was able to remove was the rear most on the trailer. In the image you can see the empty rear pocket and the stub of the bow filling the pocket by the wheel well.
