If you've got a clean title from another state, then it should be able to be registered as a normal passenger vehicle (if under 26K-lbs) and your registration fees are based on weight. If the Ely DMV office is telling you that it can only be registered as an OHV, then they don't know a HMMWV...
I'm currently in Ely, sorry can not make the event. I have a clean Illinois road title. I think it is my local DMV here that is causing the problem. I'm going to do the vin inspection and head up to Elko DMV. I see plenty of Duces and 5 tons around here in Nevada. I would rather stay here...
And above 14,001-lbs to avoid annual smog checking, if registered to an address in Las Vegas valley or Reno metro areas. That is for standard passenger vehicle registration. Now that Deuces & 5-tons cannot be registered as Classics, registration fees are based on weight...several club members...
What exactly are you talking about here, or trying to get at? Why do you keep throwing around the CDL terms, when several posts (on Page 1 of this thread) specifically address NON-COMMERCIAL driver's licenses? Why do you keep posting so-called examples from the state of Washington when we're...
Enforcement vs Taxation
Howdy,
First of all I want to apologize to silverstate55 for my surly tone in my reply to his initial message. I was in fact also wrong in my statement and silverstate55 was correct in his!
I should have also made it clear that I was stating my experience and...
They must have done you a favor or you have a close friend working at the CC DMV then; NRS states that the GVWR listed on the data plate will determine if you need additional licensing requirements....if stamped GVWR is 26,001 pounds and above, your Class C driver's license won't cut it. Just...
So you actually used a temp probe to confirm the temperature ? I have several temperature probes for my "Fluke" meter. Goes a long way in helping diagnose a problem.
Most I've seen is 160F

I'm going to guess it's been out of the system for a long time. Not sure what life it was doing...
Correction.. Mea Culpa..
I just had a weird experience with my LMTV and the Nevada DMV, this may help others.
Recently I received a letter from DMV in Nevada that my registration was being suspended due to no coverage in force. I called my company and asked what the heck.....
Turns out that...

Best short answer, call ,visit or go on line you local DMV. Put ANTIQUE VEHICLES in the search block and it brings up the Form. There are threads on here for where the Vin is located on your truck.

Throughout history, those in power will take advantage. Good example are the Nevada officers confinscasing cash from travelers and not giving a receipt! They are instructed to do so. Got caught on utube braging about the cash, showing the incar video and audio to all.
The entire government is...
Date of manufacture does not always indicate model year, the year is in the VIN. Generally August is the most common month where auto manufactures change model years.
Some states like Texas will do a bonded title and costs about $250 to get it. I have done them here in Texas on a M1009 and...
#1 thing about Nevada is this: they can be the strictest state in the U.S. about titles. Having restored numerous old cars and trucks for nearly 30 years, I am VERY familiar with this aspect of NV DMV. No other state seems to be this anal about titles. So if you don't have a title or an SF97 for...
Fees are based on weight. When I first registered my 1975 Deuce at 14,001-lbs (smog check cutoff was 14K-lbs), the cost was $400/year. I switched it to Classic Vehicle the next year, it was $69.
If it's for personal use, have the weight dropped to 6,001-lbs...the only problem is at that...
Take it to the East Sahara DMV office for your VIN inspection when you register it...the head VIN inspector is MV-friendly and you shouldn't have any problems. If so, PM me. As long as the VIN matches from the dataplate to the frame, and to the SF-97, Nevada DMV doesn't care about anything...
I can definitely help here; I recently obtained my NON-commercial Class A with air brakes endorsement.
I assume you've downloaded & thoroughly read the Nevada Class A/B Non-Commercial Study Guide? If not, start there, and memorize it. If you're getting a true CDL, then you'll need to...
