Sweet! Put the word out! We are praying for better weather this year. I have also been in direct contact with John. Looking forward to seeing you also!
The Spring Dust Off is April 26-28 2013. If you are planning on attending you can go to www.indianamvpa.org for directions and event details there is also a link on the Indiana MVPA site for McClains Military Armor Museum's Facebook page and phone numbers on the Indiana MVPA web site to contact...
The mosquitoes weren't bad last year due to all the dry weather. But this year could be totally different. And yes if it happens @ Haspin, it ends up on the internet!!!! Good call Durango!!! LOL
Couldn't do pics so a link will do. If you want to see more of my A1 add me on Facebook (Nathan Deal(I'm not the govner of Georgia lol) some more MV guys would be awesome!
What year is your M38A1? I have a 52 A1 and it only has the lowers and no uppers. If you have an early A1 it does not have them. The later A1's do have the upper support rods. and after editing and doing a little more reading........its the lowers! HA! Where's Radar when you need him.......lol
Here is the conversion kit that I was interested in. The only thing that it says you may possibly have to do some grinding on the steering knuckle and its pretty straight forward on install.

The kit I looked at said the factory wheels would clear the calipers. So that is not an issue. quickfarms, I'm probably comparing apples to oranges, but yes drums do have more surface for stopping, but with drum breaks they are pushing out to the drum as apposed to disc brakes having the caliper...
Stopping power. Even with non-power disc brakes it would stop better. Also parts would be more availible. I believe the kit I looked at had a GM truck calipers and used GM brake pads, which are readily availible. Instead of having to find brake shoes or trying to find a place to re-shoe them.
Heard it was really muddy down there in October after talking to indy4x4fab. I'm going to come down whatever weekend you guys decide. Probably won't have my A1 down there, but will be towing my '61 M101 trailer for my "camper"
Found one on Jungle Jim's Jeep parts for $785.00 and thats all the parts. Seemed a little steep to me. I wasn't sure if there were any later model CJ5's that came with disc brakes that you could swap onto the military axle.
Lol figures I post pics of my A1 & someone says something about my tractor. Its a 1954 JD 40-U. That thing runs like a top & still use it around the house. thats my log puller for gettin stuff out of the creek, until I get an M-37 or a duece lol
Here it is fenders back on & all!
This was taken the last weekend in September @ the Pre-James Dean Run in Fairmount, IN and that Sunday I recieved the Most Unique award from the hosting car club. I had the only MV there!
