Griphoist hand winch - Tirfor Ever used one, how safe? I had never seen or heard of one before and a search here produced nothing.

I do see '57 Fords at car shows and such. I think the better question is how many '58 Fairlanes have you seen? Regardless, I think there is a thread of truth to better sheet metal in vehicles pre-1958.
The top of the canvas bow on my '53 M37 with XL 11.00-16's is 7' 3". I know this because I have to let air out of the tires to get it in my 7' 1" garage door. With stock 9.00-16's I would suspect around 7' plus or minus 1" You may also take into account tired springs. My truck sits just a bit...
I know it is a totaly different system, but before I replaced the dead generator on my M37, I could easily run it 150 miles before re-charging the batteries with a charger.
RE: TM
I personally hate the costs involved with the paper originals. I bought the electronic PDF's and print what I need. Frees up quite a bit of $$$ for other things I need. Early on I spent $60 for a reprint of the parts TM for the M37. What a waste of money after I got that plus a...
I didn't say it sold. And there may have been no intention of selling it at all. The reserve may have been $100,000. They were just getting a feel for what some one was willing to pay for it. Lets say it was a new aquisition to the seller's obvious vast collection of antique automobiles...
I'd say that is what you call an "eBay fee" appraisal. You pay the lsting fee, put an unreal reserve on it and see what some one is willing to pay. In this case 39.1k
I have had parts casted for antique engines. Most people who cast parts dip them in wax to make up for some of the shrinkage and create a smoother surface. Also to build up areas to be machined.
RE: water
The way I understood it from some research that I have done is the Hydrogen that is created does in fact burn but more important is the pure oxygen that is created that acts as an oxidizer and more thoroughly burns the gasoline. To get any efficiency you have to fool the O2...
Gas generators (Not electric, but to create gasoline) were very common at the turn of the 20th century just because if you had a gasoline engine on the farm or for generator use, there was no gasoline in any great quanity to run it with. So you had a gas generator to get by. I have heard that...
Here is a company that does just that:

When I first saw it I figured that it was another one of those cheesy water injection systems, but no! It is an actual hydrogen generator that supplements your fuel intake and works on diesel engines as well...

Bryan~ Just out of curiosity here, I have no intentions of making any 20 inch rims for my M37, the steel in the bolt hole area of a rim isn't exactly thick. Why couldn't the holes be punched thru? I made a hitch for a wagon tongue out of 1/4" plate and punched a 7/8" hole right thru it...
