Who has the most Kilometres/ Miles on their CUCV?

Pulling the heads and changing head gaskets, is major work in my opinion. To word it differently, I was just curious to see how long these engines will go with basic maintenance.

Who has the most Kilometres/ Miles on their CUCV?

I was just curious who has the most mileage on their none rebuilt 6.2L CUCV? I personally have 272,000 Kilometres on my 1987 M1008, without any major engine work. The only thing that has been changed is the injection pump because it started leaking from the throttle shaft.

    DB2829 4521 Pump Code inquiry

I have been using a different calibration pump for about a year; it will work. The one I put on has small pieces of the governor floating around in the chamber, which I believe is cause it to vibrate at idle, but that is why you shouldn't purchase a used one for $60 and put it on your truck.

M1008 Won't Start - Clicks then tries to turn over but won't start

Just ask for a starter for whatever year your truck is with a 6.2l diesel. Since you have converted to 12v, your starter is the same as a regular pickup of the same year.

    Duel Fuel Filters.

Painting is already done my friend. Should have probably cleaned the tank and chaned the sock while the bed was off in retrospect. Oh well is will come off alot easier this time, without cutting any bed bolts.

    Duel Fuel Filters.

Yeah ill probably do that, but I need to come up with some way to bleed the system with the napa filter base 4309. Also concerned about starting it in the winter without the fuel heater. It can go down to -20C, (which is about - 4F) in British Columbia, Canada.

    Duel Fuel Filters.

I had some black plastic specs in my injection pump, i just wanted to ensure it isn't coming from the fuel tank. That is why I was considering adding a second filter with higher micron rating, but if i loss power by restricting the fuel flow I will probably stick with the stock setup. Also have...

    Duel Fuel Filters.

Would there be any down side to adding a spin on fuel filter along side the stock filter base? Thanks.

    Harmonic balancer Questions

The steering wheel puller doesn't thread into the crankshaft more than a couple of turns. If you compare the thread pitch, its different. Get a m16x1.5 nut and try to thread it onto that steering wheel puller. I guarantee it will not go on more than a couple of turns. If your willing to risk...

    Harmonic balancer Questions

Luckily the Fastnel near me had a 3 FT threaded rod (M16x1.5), I cut that and got two nuts and a couple of washers and it went on really easily. No need for a welder, or any other special tools for that matter. If you have a Fastnel near you, im sure that they will be able to order one in if...

    Harmonic balancer Questions

I know this is an old thread, but I was changing my balancer today and the KD 2291 tool is great for pulling the Harmonic Balancer. Installing it I noticed that it only turns a few times before it seems to bottom out, so I pulled it out and compared threads with the Harmonic Balancer bolt and...

mechanical fuel pump removal on 6.2L

I replaced my lift pump about a month ago. My truck has 227,000 kilometres on it, and its the first time the pumps been changed out. I don't really see the need to put an electric fuel pump on one of these trucks.

    M1028 running problem

First thing I would do is check if you have any air leaks in your fuel lines. Put a clear tube from the top fitting of your injection pump to the metal return line. The problem I was having with my truck is the fitting on top of the injection pump was stuck, not allowing fuel to flow through...

Starter Clicking, not turning the engine over.

Installed the relay, and push button start. All seemed fine today, fingers crossed it stays that way.

Starter Clicking, not turning the engine over.

Ok, I will purchase the one used in the Doghead relay modification and post my results tomorrow. Without the relay in place if I disconnect the ignition wire and check voltage it shows the full 12.78 volts.

Starter Clicking, not turning the engine over.

And the problem is back. It will click when the engine is cold, but after I get it started and the engine is warm I could turn it off and start without any issues. I checked the voltage at the ignition wire while cranking and I'm getting 10.78 volts. Is that enough to engage the solenoid after...
