Well I just got an education in alternators....open circuit is now closed and working great!

Hey guys, I have a new to me 1986 M1009 that's giving me a headscratcher...I replaced my gen1 alt today and before i hooked my red bat+ lead from the alt to the engine wiring harness block i wanted to check the voltage output at the alt while running. My voltmeter says 43 volts?? Is this because...

took the doors off, and made "quick release" pins. doors are still off cause its too much fun driving with them off :driver:

blocked off the mechanical pump, put in an electric pump, and put some new headlights in.

looks good! i put a 2001 gmc bucket in my m1008, but i only had one, plus it was a passenger seat so the seat belt was on the wrong side...but it sure was comfy!!

put a ground strap from the frame to the cab, which fixed my wipers!! ordered a lift pump, gonna put it in tomorrow.

i dont think you need to snorkel the exhaust, just keep the water out of the motor and you'll be fine! mine has been underwater many times with no ill effects! btw, sweet setup with the snorkel!

update... went to napa with both sets of #'s listed, and one crossed over, but wasnt right, and the other didnt crossover at all. went to the chevy dealer, had them look them up, but they couldnt get them any more! so he gave me the #'s, went back to napa, and the #'s he gave me didnt crossover...

thats what napa ordered in, mine are the oil cooler lines but they are solid all the way across, no flex hose in the middle. the trans cooler lines came out fine, the oil cooler lines collasped on themselves

they fit if you flip the wheels backwards, just sucks when you you have to air up your tires... plus you need really short valve stems http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/83k30/cucv.jpg

thanks fellas, ill run to napa tomorrow and see if they can cross the gm numbers over randyman, i got the part numbers off of rockauto.com, and the didnt match when napa ordered them in...

well, i lost my radiator, and went to take my oil cooler lines off, but they were frozen. soaked them for 4 days, and just ended up cutting them off. napa cant find any, and the delco remey part #'s i found didnt match...any one know where to get them??

i j.b. welded my cracked 208. just had to drain the fluid, and scuff the area and its been holdin just fine.

did the 454 bolt to the th400 bellhousing?
