The only solid windshield is for an A2. A1 and straight M151 both had split windshields.
There are many differences between the 3 as well as variations within the models and we can't forget motor pool mods.
I've never used the metal gasket kit. I've had pretty good luck with hi-temp copper gasket (rtv). If you exhaust manifold is warped bad enough not to maintain any seal (that;s what it sounds like), replace it.
Are the lug holes round , not egged out? Cracks at the lug holes? Any of the mentioned will render them useless, except for a parade spare. If they don't have those problems, look at 70 to 100+ each. The dings can be fixed.
If you have an A1, stick with the original, simply for the next probable owner. It gets kinda confusing when there are mods done that aren't IAW thw TM.
Just my 2 cents
If the brake (parking) is still attached, engage it, put it in neutral, and your on your way. Don't pull off the yokes, as your tranny fluid will go everywhere.
Looks like a reweld from the under body pic. Looks like it was converted to 12V. A straight M151 had no turn signals. Truck is also missing the BO light. After all the repairs that need to be done to put it back to original condition, I wouldn't pay more than 3k. I does have great tires...
Poof,
I thought that you would get a plug . I have one you can have for the shipping cost. Looks as though you fuel sending unit was bad. You can check i by moving the float up ...the resistance should go up as well. You sure that the gauge was connected properly? You should get 28 volts...
It's designed for 1/4 tom max payload...Yea , right. The load specs are usually 1/2 thier capacity for "failure". You must also take into consideration that this truck is (IMO) better offroad than a straight axle as you have a mile of movement on the independent suspension. These trucks...
Poof, you prolly are not hooked into the gauge harness, circut 27 I think. That said that circut uses one of the breakers another is the horn, I forget the third.
Yup I dont have the manual in front of me. You should have 24 volts at circuit 27. Does the battery gauge work? if so you...
Like vtdeucedriver stated if the diffs are "iffy", Trailer it. If not and you are concened about the front wheels pointing the wrong way in tight turns, rent a U-haul front end support trailer.
As I was in the Army, I was a wrecker operator. Unless any vehicle had any suspension damage, I...
Irv, If it has proper alignment and oil in the diff and tranny, you shouldn't have any problems. Just put it in neutral and disengage the brake. ungee cords wont hurt, but prolly not necessary
once you have the driveshafts disconnected, the yoke simply pulls off. Possibility that you transfer case is worn, that willl cause some play, but as stated before the lack of sleeves will result in a sloppy fitting.
