M37 made it to it's new home

Wow! It looks like it needs very little. You should have little trouble getting that old Dodge flattie running.

    M998 HMMWV Rebuild/Repair Alexandria, VA

Wow! A Spec 7! I haven't seen one of those since the 1970s. I made it to Spec 5 myself, but when I became eligible for my next promotion the Army made me a Staff Sergeant instead. I believe the Specialist ranks above E-4 had been eliminated by then. To the OP: welcome from the Birthplace of...

    Dana 44 problem

I would have thought so too, but this is what I was told by the service writer who is relaying what the mechanic said. I will have to go back to the shop on Monday and talk to the mechanic myself to be sure that is what he meant to say. For what it's worth, the sound is a definite metallic...

    Dana 44 problem

It looks like I won’t be able to drive my good old Army truck to the Military show in Findlay this weekend. I finally took it in the Dave-Dennis Chrysler Dodge Jeep here in Dayton OH to have a professional mechanic look at it to see why it makes a clicking noise in the front end when the truck...

    Military "Cattle-Cars"

The cattle cars were at FT Leonard Wood in 1971 when I went through basic training. They were used to transport the Snuffies to the ranges and back. I don't remember what tractor pulled the car except that they were civilian models; probably Fords or Jimmys. I can't find a picture, but I'm told...

    R.I.P.--FMJ--Ed Davis

I'm very sorry to hear this news. My condolences to his family. He left this world much too young. I will be 65 in October if God grants, but at least I have my wishes written down. No one is guaranteed another sunrise so do it now if you know what's good for you.

    New M882

? These are 12v already. Possibly there might be a radio equipped model that has a second battery and runs on 24v like the Chevy CUCVs, but the base model is 12 v and that is what mine is. I have heard too that the Electronic Ignition Module and the Ballast Resistor is a common weak spot on...

    New M882

You have an unusual M880 then. My experience of the type here was just about 75 mph on the hardstand (pavement) was all you could expect. The constant 4 wheel drive with no provisions to lock out the front hubs was probably part of the reason it was no speed demon. It was and is a good off road...

    African Queen 1943 M16A2 MGMC Half-Track

These links appear to be dead now,but from the one picture that is posted here, it looks like a nice half-track, Sir. Quite an adventure you had in recovering it too, it sounds like.I hope you're still able to drive it now and then.

    M880 steering...

The horn is bolted to the radiator support just above the black out headlamp. As far as I am aware, there was only one horn. Pictures attached.

    New armor arrived

It probably did. The Patton Museum is still there at FT Knox, KY but all of the armor has gone down to FT Benning, GA. When I went down to the Infantry Museum at FT Benning, GA in 2013, I found that the museum staff was prepping a room in the basement of the Infantry Museum to house some of the...

    Hopkinsville, Ky Pickup

I'm sure you've already figured this out, but Hopkinsville, KY is the town in Kentucky nearest FT Campbell. My mother was born there and we went down there as kids a lot to see relatives. Clarksville is also just outside the post over the line in Tennessee. I've been to FT Campbell numerous...

Going to pick up a 1987 HMMWV

The only thing I can think of to say is why would you want armoured doors like this? The HMMWVs aren't speedy vehicles to start with. A set of doors like that, IF you could get them, would slow it down more and put a strain on your suspension and cause things to break. As others have said, you...

    M880 washers.

If your M880 has one, the washer bottle is mounted on the right inner fender. The pump is on the bottom of the tank. The washer feature is activated by pushing in the switch knob. This was a feature of all Dodge trucks of the era.

Never mind about the paperwork. Who knows where I can lay my hands on a genuine log book binder? :shrugs:

My M880 Thread (pics plus bonus M882)

Just as a matter of curiosity, what model year 3/4 ton Dodge van did you use to source the 16 in rims? I'm running the oem 16.5 in rims on my M882 now, but 16 in rims might be easier to find tires for when the time comes.
