I and my M882 will be there God willing. I'm still looking for a small ladder to get in the back of my truck. Not being a young man anymore, I find it helps to have a ladder when I'm using the M882 to transport cargo. My knees won't let me jump up anymore.
Welcome to the site from another western Ohio member. Nice a3. I had one as my supply deuce in my last Army posting. The only problem that I remember having with that one was one of the tires in the back had a slow leak that the CTIS couldn't keep on top of. I liked the automatic transmission...
I have never been to the Aberdeen show but I have been to the Findlay show. It's a shorter drive for me to start with as I live in the Dayton area. I might have been tempted to go to a show at Aberdeen in a future year, but now that they have scheduled their show to compete with the Findlay...
You probably blew out a flexhose. That's a common enough failure if your flexhoses are old and haven't been checked for bulges and deterioration lately.
Wiki has it wrong then as they claim the M890 was the ambulance version. The one I drove in the Army was certainly a 4-wheel drive model, so that was probably the M886.
it makes more sense for people to say the gas mileage was better in an M890 now that I know it was a 2-wheel drive unit. (I...
Am I missing something here? I thought the M890 was the ambulance variant but that clearly is not an ambulance in the OP's pictures. :???: I only drove M890s in the Army so I don't remember what fuel economy they provided but with the same basic drivetrain in them as the other M880 series...
FloridaAKM & Tow4 pretty much have hit the nail on the head. When you call GL to discuss the pick up of your auction wins the GL rep can tell you what will be required to get on base.
By the way, the Air Force stopped issuing vehicle decals some time ago. They only look at your ID now so that...
Best Buy may still have portable floppy disc readers that connect to your computer via USB cable. I know that's where I got mine. I wouldn't put it off looking for one for very long however because that's an old technology and it's disappearing fast. Failing that, maybe Radio Shack can still get...
From what I can see in the above pictures you posted, it seems as if you've found a decent M880. Post more pictures if you can; I can't get enough of them. Did you manage to get it started yet and what are your plans for it when it is running?
Nice pictures. Who drove your vehicles? Someone you can trust I hope because production companies aren't very careful with stuff they borrow.I have heard horror stories on the classic car side of nice cars being trashed by uncaring production people and little or no compensation offered to the...
Thanks for that. I wasn't sure what the correct name was. I didn't see many when I was in the Army and I didn't expect to see one at the show.
Found a complete M151 engine with transmission if anyone wants one. A guy was advertising he could make you a M-2 semi-auto for $7200. Anyone else see...
Not sure what the nomenclature is for the humongous tractor but it's Oshkosh, B'Gosh. It cost your government $256 K a copy, but I doubt the current owner paid that much. GL fresh, boys. (But what on earth would you use a thing like that for?)
I'm going too! God willing and the crick don't rise, I'll bring my M882 as well. It is a long trip from Ohio, but it should make it with no worries. The most recent work I've done on this truck is a complete brake rebuild. (New master cylinder, new calipers, rotors, drums, shoes and hardware,new...
Thank you all for your replies; especially Porkies Place. My truck still has the yellow sticker under the hood that says it is supposed to take silicone brake fluid only so it is possible the tech noticed it. I did say something about it to the service writer too, but there was nothing on the...
Work caused me to miss coming up until Sunday but at least I scored a complete set of TMs for my M882 and a replacement saucer hat (aka bus drivers hat) for my dress greens. It's rare that I can ever find a hat in my size because I have such a fat head. It wasn't a total bust and Sunday was...
I had the chance to drive one towards the end of my Army career and they are very nimble; at least the "soft" ones are. I don't know how handy the up-armored ones would be as I never got to drive one in this configuration but I would imagine they're slower. They're nice to look at all the same.
Hello. I have a 1977 M882 Dodge and I have what might be considered an obvious question. Long story shortened down considerably, I had my brakes repaired by a local Dodge dealer. I didn't have the equipment and the tools to make a proper job of it if I had attempted to do it myself. The truck...
Budget cuts will do it every time. It's not only Aberdeen that is suffering either. I was at FT Benning last year and was trying to find where the Army had moved all the armor that they had taken away from FT Knox when they decided to combine the Armor school with the Infantry School and...
