    Battery location

On closer inspection of the photo, I can see the cut in the lid. I agree. I can't possibly see how that can is not vented. I still think it looks really good - much better than just an old battery hanging down there. It almost looks like it is supposed to be there - like some kind of...

    Battery location

I am aware that ammo cans as battery boxes should be vented and I expect you are too. However, I gotta say that ammo can hanging under there looks a whole bunch better than any battery you could put under there. Most excellent job! I like it!

    Battery location

I really have difficulty with the photos posting portion of this forum. I was typing a response and uploading photos. The photos did upload. The response was typed, but my computer froze. I had to shut it down. Kept the photos and lost the response. Maybe I need to upload the photos before...

Generator Set (AO42 Military Standard Engine) swap to Mule

Well, this topic didn't work the way I thought it would. Sorry about that.

    Jerry cans

I found one of the "flip type" on "that" auction site. I think it was gold plated, but did not show that in the photo. Perhaps there was crud (that did show in the photo) over the top of the gold. Either way it had a price more than I was willing to pay.

    New mule owner

Looks like the appropriate size for the Driver. Might have to move the pedals closer to the seat. :goodjob:

    Jerry cans

I would start with "for show" and work my up to "try to use". Given enough parts I might be able to make a less than adequate one perform adequately.

    Jerry cans

I would like the USGI ones, but right now I would take any kind. :(
  9. GUNNUT in Iowa

    Jerry cans

It must be a description thing. I realize the topic is "Jerry" cans and that is sometimes a misunderstood term. I guess I misunderstand it. I saw all of the spouts for the "Jerry" cans on e***. I am looking for the flexible steel spout with the rubber gasket that is forced into the threads...

    Jerry cans

I just looked through 355 items and found only one - and am still looking.

    Jerry cans

I am interested in acquiring the old style (flexible steel) spout (donkey d**k) for a fuel can. I suppose it is like "pop top" beer cans. Back in the day there were billions of them - today not so much. Anyone know a source for the above mentioned spouts? Thanks.

    My engine is broke?

Ok, the first installment on "How I swapped an AO42 Generator Set engine for my Mule engine." http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?119315-Generator-Set-(AO42-Military-Standard-Engine)-swap-to-Mule&p=1494567#post1494567

Generator Set (AO42 Military Standard Engine) swap to Mule

With reference to this topic - http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?115088-My-engine-is-broke I don't know, if this is the "right" way to do it. It is just the way I did it. I will post more details and photos later. I have a complete set of Technical Manuals for the Mule in paper form...

    Accident aftermath (M1009)

My question to you did not have anything to do with the OP. I was just curious about how other folks responded, when it appears the insurance company was . . . uh "taking advantage of them"? I left Progressive Insurance, when one of our vehicles was totaled. Single vehicle (with less than...

    My engine is broke?

I started getting my thoughts together on the conversion topic. I am going with some "lessons learned", "tools needed", "steps involved", and "locally available parts" types of information. There are about 25 photos. I have a total of 147 photos, so I am sure I will have photos of any...

    My engine is broke?

I have a ton of photos and would be happy to do a conversion thread. Anybody else interested? Not sure how long it would take me to put one together - and I need to figure out something on the photo upload thing. Drove the Mule the four blocks back to the Armory at 3:00 this afternoon. It was...

    My engine is broke?

Well, after 3 months and over 1,200 views, I think we can put this puppy to bed. My Mule engine is NOT broke - at least any longer. All it took was a new generator set engine, some extra parts, a little bit of "wrenching", and much learning. Some of it was easy. None of it was hard. None of...

    Camo Netting Support Systems

The aluminum ones don't break, but they do bend. If this bend is at the socket, you will have difficulty using the pole. I am not certain the round tops will work on the old style nets with the bigger holes. I do know they (the round tops) have a smaller overall diameter than the "helicopter"...

    Camo Netting Support Systems

Originally my unit had the fiberglass poles. When they started to break and became unusable, we turned them in for the aluminum ones. When the aluminum ones bent and became unusable, we could not use them. They also made more noise banging against each other, if you threw them in a pile. We...
