Sexy? Hmm...not sure that I would use THAT word to describe it. Personally the Su-34s look odd to me - way too nose heavy. Kinda like they'd always have to fly with the control stick pulled back to keep the nose up! Now the standard Su-27 / 35 is far better looking to me.

Mil Mi-26 (Halo) take off These are huge Russian helicopters used by Russian military - there are many different versions in service. They are also used around the world for heavy lift work as they are the largest helicopters in service today. Notice how small the tires are in comparison...

Soviet Attack Aircraft / Sukhoi Su-34 "Fullback" Based on current reports from Syria, the Su-34s are being used by the Russian Air Force to attack targets every day now. This video is in English and about 50 minutes long. It is a history of Soviet attack aircraft and tries to show how the...

Su-17s of the Polish Air Force. This is the swing wing version of the Sukhoi Su-7 - but in reality it is a very different aircraft. The Su-7 was fast and agile, but had a reputation for being able to carry either weapons (dumb bombs or unguided rockets) OR fuel, but not both at the same...

A Documentary video from Russian TV on the T-14 Armata MBT...it's about 45 minutes and of course in Russian. Not sure if these will ever really be produced in large numbers like the T-72 & T-90, but it is interesting to see more of it now that they are talking about exporting them. The leading...

MiG-21s... While not a front line aircraft of Russia anymore, they are still in service around the world. These appear to be in service with the Czech Air Force when this was recorded. I believe they operate the Swedish JAS-39 Gripen now. In the video you see the pre-flight checks from the...

The Sukhoi Su-35s are impressive aircraft. Once they really get into service or widely exported, they will be a serious threat. Just don't see how the F-35 survives in the same airspace. Especially if things end up being a close in dogfight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBKvlLzGkvU...

Don't speak or read the Russian language - but in this video Putin tours the factory where the units are made. Pretty simple plant....doesn't seem very high tech. Just ignore what is obvious propaganda or skip it and you'll enjoy seeing one of their latest military systems...

S-350E Vityaz Air Defense System https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=La3J-6fKOAk The S-350E Vityaz (knight) is a short-to-mid range air defense missile system. It was developed by Almaz-Antey company as a replacement for the ageing S-300PS, which was developed back in the early 1980s. Development...

Thanks... Just trying to keep the thread going until USSR returns. Hate to see it end, as I have enjoyed seeing the pics he's posted. Plus I'd think he'd appreciate the fact that we didn't forget about him & his thread.

Absolutely correct. Remove the pilot and you can make the aircraft simpler, save weight and carry more weapons/fuel, worry less about g loads and cut costs, etc. Also there is no worry about captured pilots. I have read that some are already saying the current F-35 will be the last new manned...

Here is the Sukhoi Su-30.... It is an enhanced and very upgraded version of the original Su-27 - notice the small canards for example. These are formidable aircraft with excellent air frame performance and very capable weapons & avionics systems...

Oops...you're right. I saw the intakes closed in the pics, but failed to failed to explain why. As mentioned already...similar systems are something the Russians have done before to protect the engines. For example - the MiG 29 has secondary air intakes on the upper surface of the wing...
