Modern Russian Army in the photos.

No expert here either, but I'll try: It seems to be the progression of their previous camo designs and what other nations have been doing. The older paints were just a light gray or a light blue, while newer Russian air defense aircraft have blended light and darker grays and added white...

No expert on this, but yes it is very common in these large cannons. Most modern MBTs use a smooth-bore main gun. Tanks like the Abrams, Leopard 1 & 2, T-72/90, Leclerc...use a smooth-bore, while the British Challenger 1 & 2 use rifled cannons. Smooth-bore cannons can fire many types of ammo...

MiG-31s are always interesting too....I saw these a few weeks ago, In the close up shots on the ground - notice the mirror that is sticking up over the back canopy. It's used for the RIO in the back seat to see ahead. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRhgxCaPakQ...

Modern Russian Army in the photos.

The T-14 weighs around 50 tons and has a 1,500-horsepower engine. The tank’s three-man crew operates the vehicle and its weapons from a capsule in the front. It doesn’t lack for protection — packing both composite and reactive armor. The Russian army wants to build around 2,300 T-14s by 2020...

Modern Russian Army in the photos.

Here are two videos I have watched on the new Armata T-14 tanks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yJinijvv9c https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8Tv1NEHaj4 Based on what I have been reading, it's a whole new family of vehicles. The T-14 isn't based on the old T-72 / 90 as was once thought -...

Modern Russian Army in the photos.

The Russians certainly tried to take advantage of the benefits of swing-wing aircraft during the 1960-70s. The MiG-23, MiG-27, Su-17 and Su-24 are all swing-wing designs that are still in service around the world today. Don't forget the F-14, plus the European Panavia Tornado use it as well.

Modern Russian Army in the photos.

There is no doubt that they have taken the best features & concepts of what is out there and integrate them into their own designs and ideas. Nothing wrong with that! I can list at least two more quick examples: look at a B-1B and the TU-160 and then MiG-25 and the North American A-5 Vigilante...

Yes it is...you can see it better in this photo of the Sukhoi Su-27 landing. It is very similar layout to the F-15 Eagle.

Has Iraqi Hezbollah Acquired an American M1A1 tank?

I have been concerned about this for years - our best equipment falling into the hands of our enemies. I guess next we'll have to try and destroy these tanks. From the "Defense Update" web site.... A video recently aired on YouTube shows an alarming situation happening in Iraq, where heavy...

A few Deuce pics from September 1993

Iraq takes delivery of final M1A1 tanks

I'm concerned that a few could be "inspected" by Iranian forces or used against us later on. That area is so volatile - who knows how things will be in 5, 10 or 20 years. Perhaps as mentioned above, the tanks won't be 100% operational for long, so it may not matter that much! I don't wanna...
