I am late reading through this but wanted to offer a big thanks for all the info and thought I would offer my opinion on a couple of topics it touched on.
First: Repairing radiators should only be done if a new replacement is not available. Re-coring seems to work okay but patching a cracked...
So my start up routine should include triggering the interrupter before turning on the house breaker. That is good to know.
I have been turning off all the 240s but it will have an amp or two on when I pull the trigger.
I told everyone I had solved the power outage problem when I got mine. Figured the power would never go off again. Have logged over 40 hours in outages in less than a year.
6+ hours and still humming away. Haven't hit 1/2 tank yet. :p :clinto:
Unusual for them to take this long to get it back on. They report fewer than 400 left out on FB so I guess we will be last on the list.
This will work out for me. I exercise and test monthly but it's time to rotate the fuel. I make sure to put fresh, treated fuel in before hurricane season. I'm about to refill my storage drums so I need to get all the remaining fuel into my tractors. Filled the small tractor the other day and...
Storm knocked out the power.
Wife and I went through the start up process and confirmed the draft we created for her.
Plans are to print and laminate start up, load management, and shut down procedures on separate pages.
Ran the generator under load for a while today. Voltage indicator on charge controller read charging volts of 28 then returned to 26 after shut down. No apparent damage to the charge controller.
This thread has a lot of fuel pump info as well. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?170390-Fuel-Pumps-and-Fittings-MEP-803a/page2
If yours was missing the pump and plumbing you might look around for a junk dealer that has it all for you.
Has anyone figured out where all those parts...
My battery voltage is reading 25.2 this morning which is a tenth lower than they were before I put the new system on. I will need to monitor for a while to make sure it's doing what I need but I feel good about it. Right now it's cool and shady so I think all is normal.
One thing I haven't...
I have solar panels on every battery I own that sits and doesn't get regular use. Some with charge controllers and some little ones without. In my experience so far it has made the batteries last much longer keeping them topped up with full charge.
The situation I have on these value power...
I installed a new solar charging system on my 803 today. Purchased a 24V, 20W panel and charge controller off the auction sight. I have been using this same charge controller on another system to maintain the battery for my security cameras. I have two wifi cameras in the field I use to watch...
Well the jury is still out on these batteries. I checked them today and they were still holding at 25.3 volts.
I wish I had done more testing on the solar charger that came on the unit because I suspect it might have been draining them. I cut it loose the day I charged them. I was trying to...
Searched for these using the MFG number listed in the OPs link and found them listed at the same vendor without their prefix. Ordered two over the phone as suggested and just received a tracking number. http://www.plastic-mart.com/product/1040/1-4-brass-bulkhead-fitting-10897
Mine are not...
I have an old Poulan bow saw I need to get out of the shed and go through the fuel system on again. Not sure I could start it any more. It had so much compression it would jerk my shoulder out of joint when I was much younger. It would sure nuff walk through any hardwood you laid it on with a...
This is a good idea I will employ on mine. I have small engine filters on the supply line on both my tractors. Those little $3 filters are much easier and cheaper to replace than the larger OEM filters.
I didn't know what micron ability those little installed filters had. I do know I have...
The original Motorcraft battery that came in my F150 lasted more than 9 years. A replacement from the local Ford Dealer was $99 at the time. They give a 10% discount if you purchase online and pickup at the store. The replacement only lasted 6 years but had a 7 year warranty. With the prorate I...
