Reduce your paint with thinner and it dries faster and doesn't leave it shiny at all. I learned this the hard way now all I use is thinner.

If you really want to be confused use the search function and look at all the history on this discussion. I use gl1 in tranny and transfer and gl5 in the diffs as stated above. 80/90 works good ! I'd shy away from the synthetics unless you are looking to throw away some green backs needlessly.

Boy are you in for a surprise! I would highly recommend you buy your first from a private party unless you like punishment and are in absolutely no hurry to have a deuce.
Just my2cents Seriously though there is a descent video tutorial on the Gl site that most anyone should be able to...

Thanks again Carnac!
Not all were airshift and they used a sprague transfer case instead. When the front spin the transfer auto locks into all wheel drive. Some people don't like the sprag but I have never had a problem with either and will continue to own either with no concerns. Maybe someone else will chime in...
Really looks nice. You will need gauges to keep air up or either plug the hose and it would be nice to be able to keep an eye on things. I have seen some gauge clusters on Egay.[thumbzup]
Did you over tighten the plug and crack the housing-sometimes too tight is a bad thing. Teflon tape is not really a thread sealer but to help the threads slide against each other without galling.

I do this for a living if that means anything-REPLACE THE SPINDLE! And then go around and grease and inspect all the others on the truck. If one wheel is that bad then chances are the rest need some overdue attention. You could save yourself a later headache or a long walk or an accident.

The 1008 is geared great for pulling that weight and that stack of springs on the rear axle is there for just that reason. Nice looking rig. Enjoy that trailer. I've been entertaining the same thought but sure is easy to just throw the tent and equipment in one of the deuces and off we go.
