I would probably just pick up a good used tranny to use for parts or go ahead and install it and use the broken one for future parts. Or you could just buy the part you need.
Man I have spent many nights looking for info on the droop or smoke screw. My truck boggs really bad when taking off forward or reverse and have been thru all the usual filter changes and such. Somebody who can tell me where on the ip and recommended adjustment would be appreciated.

If you don't vent the crankcase pressure you start pushing out seals and thats means trouble. There is probably nothing wrong with the original cap.

Traded even my 85 1009 for 71 Am General winch truck. I think we both did OK. The 1009 was completely rust free and 47,000 original miles and was all original with brand new paint. The deuce is in proper working order from front to back with new paint. Even the winch works great-I had to try it...
It doesn't look all that bad. I'm sure it will need aloooooooooooooootttt of work. You may consider continuing the search for one that runs and has a title. Unless you have lots of spare time. Good Luck with your hunt.
