with the 46 in tires I would definately start off in 1st. All my deuces have had the problem of not wanting to go into 2nd gear at a stand still. I usually if I'm starting in 2nd pull it in and let up slightly on the clutch without slipping it and it falls rite in.

Man that show sucks hard. Want be watching it anymore. Can't these tv people come up with anything descent anymore. They're like hollywood writers remaking all the old good stuff and ruining it-THEY'RE ALL BRAINDEAD!
I can't even stand to finish watching that stupid a$$ show. Dumbest crap I've seen in a long time. Good idea for a show just the wrong group of people.
Just my 3 cents.

Yeah that's definately a safety thing that would not hurt to have. And also looks pretty cool coming down the road . Think I'll do the same thing since we live out in the dark country.
I bought a truck 5 states away but was lucky it came all the way home with no problems. It was the adventure for me. If it had broke down it would just have to be transported home. Life on the ragged edge.
I wander if maybe a bent shifter fork could be partially engaging gears when in neutral. It may be time for an inspection like stated above and maybe a good used one>
The screen had actually 2 purposes in civy life. One was of course to keep beer cans out of intake. and sometimes the intakes would make a moning noise and gm thought the screen would take care of that too.
I'm a mechanic and I would have bid on it too so don't let some folks beat you down. It may be a great runner when you get it home and replace what's missing and if not then you have a project/learning experience ahead of you.
Good luck with it.

If your paint is cracking and peeling like mine was then I would go to the metal. If not and you only have some spots of surface rust then sand then down and feather the edges and then shoot with red oxide primer. It has the good stuff to take care of any rust left behind and to prevent. As far...
Welcome sir

Go with the 1400 or 1600 they look much cooler. So you lose some power on the long uphill grades but even as you're getting passed you're truck is still gonna be the coolest thing on the road!
I have seen some of the jeep heaters under the dash and they are small in size but heat very nicely. Search the forum I know there are some writeups on the install I have seen them. I don't think you have to flip invertor with the jeep box.

nice job on the batt. box. That smell is probably from the draft tube. Fumes blowing through the firewall and around the shifter. Nice looking truck.
