By all means yes. You can safely drive the quarter mile without the coolant system intact. Just drive it normally and get it to where you are going and park it quickly. I've been in the heavy mechanic business for 24 years and have done similar so many times.

If this is all new to you I would probably go with a good runner. But on the other hand what better way to get to know a truck than to start swapping motors. As far as value of one needing an engine - personally I'd only give maybe 1000-1500 depending on the shape of the rest of the truck.

You want really see a performance increase with warmer engine but they are intended to run at 185. Running them cooler causes the engine to really build up alot of carbon inside which is a bad thing.8)
I own them because I can. And it is all possible because of our guys and gals in the armed sevices that keep our country free. And like the others I always wanted a huge truck but couldn't justify the expense of owning a huge pickup just to drive around and be cool in! And just maybe we're all...
If youre going to bob the truck anyway and really want to run 70 in it then just get a big enough tire 1600 or larger and you could probably run 90.:grd:
here are some pics of mine after I painted it gillespie 24087 and with the 3 color top that came with it and finally with the canvass top. I kinda liked the 3 color but I had a buyer for it so off it went. I got my od canvass top off here for if I remember 100.00. It was new still in the box...
Man somebody needs a vacation. Ours is not a perfect world and all the griping and b***hing isn't going to help. We all make mistakes in our personal life and at work we just have to move on. Have you ever thought of taking up golf or fishing??????:cookoo:
My last deuce didn't have heat so I used a single burner camp stove on propane and put it in the floor and taped it in place and man it worked great. Just don't forget to crack the window just a little bit.

:ditto: I would probably just find a good used takeoff for now to get rolling again and probably be cheaper than trying to fix the one he has now.
:roll:The $24 question is should I sell my deuce to buy a m818 tractor. I always wanted one I'm just not sure if the upkeep is that much more intensive or not.
I do all my own work so I have that part covered. Just wandering what some of you would do. Would like to either bob an 818 or single it...
I say drive it. If your brother is a competant mechanic and gives it his thumbs up then drive. I picked up my pressent deuce in Pa and drove it to nc about a 550 mile trip and had no problems. I am a mechanic and went over it front to back. Wasn't really worried since we had a towbar and 5 other...
yeah that's cool. I'd love to have one but I'd probably end up in trouble with it. Next time my smart a$$ neighbor says something about me cranking a deuce at 7am on a sat. morning I'd put his car on top of his house. Not really but yaw know where I'm coming from. Have fun.
