picture the fuel filter looking at it from the grille with fuel running from it. Sorry i dont have any pictures, i dont thinks they'd provide a very good picture in this case. I waited a few hours and replaced the filter just now and it seems to work without leaking. i tried adjusting some of...
I have been having problems with startup of my M1008. after just sitting for and hour and a half this morning it would not fire up and run. I had to keep cranking the engine over, I did wait for the starter to cool and didnt run it too hard. Finally it started. I have been having fuel...
I knew what you meant be the zero rate stuff. Actually the truck i bought has a 2" class 4 receiver hitch that was installed. the previous owner had to cut away some of the support for the bumper, but the D-Ring stuff doesnt appear to be cut at all and the rear spring shackle hanger looks like...
just looked, the square tubes for the D-rings only go to the the end of the framerail (dont even bolt to it). so i shouldnt have any clearance issues. I dont know if im going with zerorates just yet, i have to see how the front wheels fit first. I can live with a wheel that looks a little off...
How much will the rear springs with all those leaves usually sag for most over the years? i just bought a shackle flip for the rear and 4" springs up front to match so should the back look really tired compared to the front? I know i wont know for sure until its all said and done, but I was...
a friend of mine has 35" Toyo Open Country MTs that are E rated and he really likes em, tows a horse trailer all the time. i might go with Toyos because of their towing capacity and they sound like a good tire. I'm sure they make a 33" tire be sure to check them out. a friend of mine has an...
RE: Re: RE: electrical hack job and misc electrical
Does anyone have the fuse for the back of the volt meter. I have tried most of the electrical places in town and no one has it. Had a cool chat with a Marine who just got back from the middle east and spent some time in Baghdad. A website...
RE: Re: RE: electrical hack job and misc electrical
But does anyone know the asnwers to the wiring questions? I am not having any major starting issues with it, just want to know why the wires are cut and if they need to be replaced/fixed.
As Some you you may know i recently purchased a new M1008, actually a month tomorrow, but i have been noticing that a lot of wires were cut by either the military or the previous owner. First, all the blackout light switches were taken out and the wires were cut and tapes behind the dash. the...
I know that some of the larger military trucks were designed to run on almost anything available with the multifuel engines. I have a M1008 and was wondering if the fuel line on it is a heavier duty than what was found on most stock trucks of the time. A friend and I are planning on running...
I bought a battery for mine from NAPA, i don't know if its original type but it gets the job done. 31A is the type/number (?) and i have only found it at NAPA. It is a commercial grade battery for trucks, tractors, and busses.
i assumed they were different, but i figured the military didnt change too much from the base chevys, guess i was wrong. so has anyone lifted a M1008 and are there conflicts with the bumper and springs?
John
my dad heard it and said that it sounds like a relay. any relays under the dash/ in that area that would or should not be making that noise.
as for DW, the suspension shop did say the drag link was bad, but i dont know if that affects DW
John
Did you run into any problems with the front springs? i heard that springs will not work with the stock bumper on a M1008.
Do you have any pics of the truck that you could post?
you may want to check the kingpins like chser suggested. I have deathwobble on my truck and am in the process of correcting it. does anyone know how likely it is that the tires can cause it, ive been told the old tires on the truck are the culprit, but i still think its kingpins.
John
I thought that's what it might be, but i i'm pretty sure it continues even after a while. I had it idling in the driveway earlier this week to check fluids for 15 minutes or so and the sound continued the whole time. i haven't driven it in a week becuase it had the wrong pass side alternator...
as for the 1 1/4 ton i think the shackle flip will work for rear and should keep load capacity because its the same springs, and you don't need too much load capacity on the front, most weight is on rear axle when towing/trailering.
does anyone know how soft front skyjacker springs are? I want...
I recently bought a M1008 and have noticed a few things. When the truck is running a popping sound can be heard every few minutes or so. I have noticed that when the pop is hear, the headlights dim slightly and then go brighter. is this something thats normal? and what is causing this? Does...
