One of my starter bolts just broke and the other was tweaked at the threads so i replaced both. When i removed the starter there was no L bracket in the front, is this something found on civvy models too? i know im gonna need it to prevent this from happening again but dont know where to find...
a friend had suggested that i take part in this but i have one big problem with the whole idea. sure maybe the gas companies/stations will suffer on the 15th. but the next day when everyone fills back up they will make it back. unless this is made into a longterm standoff from filling up i...
Photo album of lift
Ok well here it is. these are the most helpful pictures i had that i have uploaded to Picasa web albums.
<table><tr><td align="center"></td></tr><tr><td>'84 M1008 lift & shackle flip</td></tr></table>
I'll try and get some pics up this afternoon. im having trouble embedding pictures so i may have to resize them and upload through SS. or i'll put all the pictures in a zip file and upload that to the forum for y'all to download and view.
84cucv1ton, yeah it was more than some of the deals...
I'm pretty sure the TC on the M1028 is a NP205 vs. the NP208 found on M1008s. My M1008 has the drivers side door off an M1028 so the tag is wrong for my vehicle otehrwise i would rocommend checking that.
Re: RE: Costs
I already looked into this. One Ton frames are stronger/thicker than the 1/2T 3/4T frames and it is not likely to crack at all. The guy at the local chevy dealer only has seen it once on a 1/2T 3/4T truck so i'm not worried. I'm not going to be doing any hardcore stuff over...
Costs
Here is what I spent on everything pertaining to the lift and where I got what:
I bought the leaf springs through JC Whitney because of the cheaper shipping cost, otherwise i would have bought them from ORD.
ORD 4" 1Ton Shackle Flip kit $190
Tuff Country HD 4" frnt lift springs @ J.C...
The Story (some background):
I have wanted to own a '73-87 Chevy for the longest time. I previously owned a IFS '90 Chevy K1500 and wanted an affordable way to lift it that was dependable. so a SAS was what i had come up with. Well a few months ago I found a truck with the older body style...
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Anybody done a body lift?
GT1009,
regarding parts and prices. i think the tuff country kits are pretty reasonable in price. i only paid $207 for both front springs, but that didn't include any hardware just springs. I have found ORD to be very helpful with parts and such...
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Anybody done a body lift?
UGH! i should've gone with monroes. i heard KYB was a bit pricy so thought id save with Rancho... bummer. well live and learn.
So any update on the lift situation gt1009?
John
Re: RE: Re: RE: Anybody done a body lift?
OH NO!! i just bought 4 Rancho shocks to accompany the new lift. At least i went with the tuff country springs. and i did go through ORD for some stuff 8) I guess i can go for a little stiff. at $42 a pop it wasn't killer price wise and 4wp was...
Re: RE: Anybody done a body lift?

I have the inline run right now with a fuse near the battery. So far all that is hooked up and tested is the CB without any issues:jumpin: its all pretty straight forward. i dont have a lighter and am waiting for the resistor for my voltmeter to put my dash and stereo in. if the straight from...
The guy at the electrical store said anything over 10 could fry the cig lighter. so i got 10 gauge. hopefully with the radio and CB it should be alright. if it does fry the cig lighter i will just run a wire for that off the fuse block and use the 10gauge for the radio and CB. Wiring is half...
I talked to some of the guys in the mess tent here and it was established that 18 gauge is too light for a lighter. they suggested a minimum of 12 gauge.
