French Camp just sold a couple M1008s and M1009s last month on govliquidation. did anyone here win any of them? I almost bid, but didn't have time to do my HW and preview before the auction
My mistake I meant the connecting rod. i thought what you are calling the tie rod is the dradlink. Not quite clear on all the terms but i know what needed to be adjusted and know that it did nothing to throw off the toe or camber
Carefull taking it to a shop. of course go there for alignment, but as far as centering your steering wheel, that can be done easily on your own as described above. I took my truck to a trusted shop (had their own racing team) for an alignment. I just installed new Tie Rod ends so I told them...
before you go and buy a replacement hub, try just opening it up and maybe greasing the part. I had a pass side hub that wasn't working and after taking off the cap, going through the parts and them putting it all back where i found it i never had another problem with it. I think the TM has a...
Owning a few well used cars i've learned age always helps to make them run keyless. On both a 67 firebird and 90K1500 i've owned the teeth got worn down enough to remove the key. I think this even happened on my CUCV. see how much play there is in the ignition cylinder, it may work for yours...
I swear there was a thread a while back about the new CUCVs and some members have poster pics of them parked on bases. I was excited to see one last weekend while drivng home to Vote. I was passing through Fairfiled, CA so I'm assuming its from Travis AFB. Sorry the picture quality is poor...
Does anyone know if there is a USMC logo stencil out there? I had the rear bumper on my M1008 painted black and thought it would have completed the truck if I could have somehow painted the USMC logo onto it in white. Or is it too intricate a design for a stencil?
try doing a search im pretty sure i remember this being brought up a few months back for a M1008. I just remember someone recommending Aluminum bread trucks as an engine donor because they are inexpensive and you can get money back on scrap.
this sounds like a suspension lift with blocks in the rear.
a body lift would not require the transmission to be lowered or the transfercase to be clocked down. body lift is all above the frame so none of these driveline angles change. sway bar oly has to be dropped if the distance between...
I lost the belts on both alternators and was able to drive home... twice.. the one belt will get you home. a little squeak from it since there was no alt belt for support but it works. I went a week and a half of driving on only one alt charging (so a week and a half of cranking power). if...
Hey all!
Well this past year it has been awesome learning from you on SS. I purchased this truck as something that I planned to offroad every weekend and have a good time with but after learning about its original purpose I quickly changed my mind and it became a DD. There was so much to learn...
