Yes when we sleep, the tail gate goes up. It is a 3 door type of opening. People can not lock us in when we are sleeping. When we get out, we can get out with or without tailgate being down. However, it sould be easier with tailgate down.
Finally got the trailer painted but still need to do the interior and the air jack installation. It is about 50% done. I will also need to do some pre-wiring before plywood goes in.
To me popup is alot easier mechanically. It has two hinges and work just like a door opening upward. Lowering and raising would require 4 shocks or air jack. This setup only require one. Alot less mechanical issues like synching all foour shocks.
Thanks Low Tech. I have two gas shocks for the top pop up but still too heavy to open. So I got a 8 ton air jack (long Ram) and will be welding the brackets this weekend and it will be open by compressed air from the truck. So the opening and closing will be automatic using compressed air...
Just came back from camping for 3 days last weekend. Didnt turn on my generator for all three days. This picture was taken about 5 pm. 4 LED lights were turned on. Love those lights. You can see the propane tank sitting on a long box of batteries along with my ham radio antenna.
I do plan to install a 110V small AC unit from Home Depot. They are like $99 bucks. I already have a RV roof vent when I will mount on the side with a built in fan. 12V heater for winter camping.
I will be using reflective type radiate barrier for insulation. They are thin and works well.
