I just rebuilt my engine and put new piston rings in. I am shocked at the power. I was thinking about a mild turbo only for going to see family in Colorado. If you want a turbo add a main cap stud girgle kit. It is only about $150. It atrengthens the main caps and worth adding the protection...
The Lucas is not a fuel. You need the engine to be running for it to work.:-D
If you add a turbo do not go crazy. A mild turbo boost it would be like being at sea level. I would not hot rod it without rebuiding the engine.
When people ask I just say the ones on the bumper are there so you do not get run into and the funny thing on the grill is only good if it is really dark and you are going really slow. A full moon is much better for seing at night.
There is nothing to adjust. Be sure to use a fuel addative to clean the valves. I like Lucas it works on gas and diesel engines. Carbon build up prevents the valves from seating properly reducing compression. Carbon can also prevent the rings from sealing lowering compression. A fuel additive in...
Be sure to use something like Lucas in the fuel to clean carbon build up in addition to a lubricant to compensate for the lower sulfer content in diesel. In the high altitude I would use a turbo to get more are in. More fuel needs more air. At altitude you have less air to compress in addition...
It's Alive! It's Alive!
Got the fuel pump on with c3bosco's help. It worked fine. Got fuel and got fuel to the injectors. Put the glow plugs in. The the Green Beast fired up. Needed power steering fluid to make steering easier and the brakes smoother. But took it for a quick spin and it has...
I really know how to read; really. I looked back at the TM and saw that silly thing called the "mounting plate." Did you know that when you take it off the push rod can fall right out? I felt real bright!
Everything looks good. I started puting it back together but ran out of light. I...
Texas does have a non-commercial license. It is an exemption to the commercial requirement if "4. A recreational vehicle that is driven for personal use; or" The form is ftp://ftp.txdps.state.tx.us/forms/cdl-2.pdf there is also an exemption on the form for farm vehicles.
TIRES!!!!!
I went and got a trailer earlier this month and the tires looked great. I checked for cracks to see if it was dry rotted and they looked good. Only made it maybe 15 miles before they flew apart. They held air so we drove 35MPH to the next town. Also if you are using a civi truck the...
The B/O lights on the bumpers are to be seen so you do not get run into. The funny looking one on the grill puts a little light out so you can see enough to drive slow. A full moon gives you more light. I want mine for hunting so I can get there early in the morning without lighting everything...
check to see if smoke is coming out of the oil filler. That is exactly what mine was doing. The rings had a bunch of carbon build up and had blow-by. It would start and run but did not have power. Then when it warmed up it would die. It would start a couple more times but then not start at all...
Be careful of about the tires. You have no idea how old they are. They can look good but be dry-rotted. I picked up a trailer the tires looked great and I looked for cracks, but it only made maybe 15 miles before the tires came apart. They may be good but be prepared to replace them. I would...
AAA offers 24V jumps! It turns out many of the motor homes are 24V. I did not ask about a NATO adapters. I would like to get a slave cable when I have some extra cash. Then I could make an adapter for AAA jumps and have it for other MV's. I found two people in less than a mile from with MV's...
I am talking about my chevy. I can feel the pushrod just under opening. With a flashlight I could see it. I will be trying to get it out tomorrow afternoon. With the engine in the truck can pliers get in the opening?
If it came with the truck you have no idea how old it is. Dry rot sets in and the rubber gets brittle. Then when it gets hot the air expands. If it is 105 outside you know it is much hotter in the truck. So the tire expnds and the brittle rubber breaks. I just got I trailer and checked the tires...
Do not freak out about a timing chain. If it just stopped and you did not hear anything things are good. I had an engine do the same thing. When it breaks the valves stop moving but the pistons keep going and can hit the valves causing damage. But you usually hear them hit. It is a metal hitting...
I did not write clearly. The vacume worked. The fuel pump is off now. The push rod is jammed now. I do not know if gravity and putting the fuel pump on pushed the push rod to the side toward the front of the engine. I have to get the push rod out no matter what. But how do I know if the cam has...
