    Replacement Gen 1 altenator

Bump for my last question please? Anyone know?

    Replacement Gen 1 altenator

Quick follow up question: I bought the replacement Duralast unit from the FAQ's to replace my Gen 1. It came with a smaller pulley on it than my stocker. Assuming it will still retain proper belt tension without going to the end of the stop on my adjustment bracket, will the smaller pulley...

    Replacement Gen 1 altenator

It's the front bolt hole that cracked so I may try what you suggest. I had planned on keeping the old one anyway. I'll take the 11v battery to have it checked, but I don't have a good feeling about it. Those things get expensive buying them every couple months. Warthog, thanks a lot for your...

    Replacement Gen 1 altenator

I've got them sitting on the brackets that hold them down when they are in the truck, so they aren't really sitting on the concrete. The lower volt reading in the front one should be o.k? Thought I remembered hearing a whle back on here that if a battery read under 12v after charging several...

    Replacement Gen 1 altenator

Thanks for the help guys. I already marked them, although it's easy to see the difference with a big ass chunk of metal tore off Gen 1 anyway. :x Hopefully when I get the new one and the other rebuilt, my charging issue will go away. I still have another issue as my Gen 1 light has been...

    Replacement Gen 1 altenator

Well, I pulled a bad rookie move pulling off my Gen 1 altenator and broke the casing where it bolts to the attachment bracket while trying to loosen a rusty bolt. Perhaps a little liquid wrench would have been a good idea in 5 degree temps and rusty old bolts:oops:. Threads were stripping out...

M1008 6.2L Diesel. To Turbo or to Replace?

I like the thought of the 4bt Cummins. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think they make considerably more torque than the 6.2 and fit better than the 6bt. They also won't wreck your trans but the adapter for it is pretty pricey unless you can find a good deal on one off a bread/Frito...

    CUCV Never Ending Problems

Well you could have gotten a dud I guess but I say give it a few months and a little more work and see what happens. I bought mine from a place that could have passed for a junkyard after it sat for 9 months there. After new batteries, changing fluids out, a new balancer and a few other...

    My first CUCV

I'm in Rolla, about 30 miles south of the Capitol. I like your truck a lot. Mine was from Ft. McCoy and has a few rust issues but nothing too bad, considering.

    Green OR black rims?

Mine came with green fronts and black backs. I think I like the look of the green ones a little better, but they both look good.

    My first CUCV

Argh. I keep seeing people post up pics of CUCV's quite a bit cleaner than mine that spent less. Starting to think I overpayed by quite a bit.....aua Nice looking rig.

    Need some wheel recommendations

It's a 1008. Kind of looks like a 1009 because of the bed cover if you just glance at it.

    Need some wheel recommendations

Just a little FYI, when you search for Super Lug tires on a search engine, it shows you ones made by Carlisle first, which are for lawn mowers, garden tillers, etc. lol. Looking further, I found the ones you were meaning, made by McCreary. I do like what I see there and might get some of...

    Need some wheel recommendations

I wasn't sure about clearance with 15's. I'll stick with 16". Same question on the wheels though. I was looking at some ProComps that are on sale for $75 a piece on a website just now. What's the tallest/widest tire configuration you guys know of that will fit without suspension travel issues...

    Need some wheel recommendations

EDIT: disregard question on 15" wheels. Now just looking for taller/wider tire information and maximum width of 16" wheel on otherwise stock truck. thanks Just had a alignment and balance done and was informed I have a bent wheel. Going to continue driving it for a while until I can afford...

    m1028 locker

Sorry, wasn't trying to threadjack or anything. I know what diff's my truck has but hadn't owned a true locker before so I didn't know. I'd searched a lot of things but hadn't looked into this one before.

    m1028 locker

I was wondering about this. My M1008's rear tires chirp as I make most slow turns(seems like the wheel weight is coming off of). Is this a typical thing for when the locker is working? I kind of thought maybe my locker was shot because of this symptom.

Just put a turbo on my m1028...wow!

Sounds really nice. I too am looking at a single exhaust later when my system gets more beaten up and I have a few more dollars in my bank account. I'll probably exit mine out the rear passenger side though since I have a bed cover.

    My belt issue

The idle does seem a little low. When I was looking at multiple trucks, I did notice that mine seemed to idle a little lower than the others. At the time, it seemed like a good thing, but maybe not. They do seem to hold firmer with higher rpm's but for them to be much different, the rpm's...
