    Port of Entrys

What he said. Also I would like to add the National GVWR for a person with a class R license is 26000# regardless of configuration. This includes GCVWR which is Gross COMBINED vehicle wight rating. This includes your trailer. There are some restrictive exceptions like house cars, (Motorhomes)...

5-ton dump trucks as gun trucks in Vietnam

This is the most awesome thread I have seen in a long time. I just got a 5 ton dumper and it is very tempting to recreate a gun truck out of it. Too bad I need it for the farm more than making it into a gun truck. Oh well. Guess I will just have to look for another one.;)

    818 locker install

My understanding is Detroits unlock or free up when they are on the coast side like letting off the throttle and going around a corner. The tandem axles would put a whole new wrinkle in that operation. Would it be better to just lock one axle, front or rear tandem? Also if they really suck and...

Happiness is a few gallons of 24087

I like it alot. Looks good. I am used to the solid color trucks growing up with M-37's. I go back and forth about how i want to paint mine. I guess time will tell. Thanks for the paint info.

Fun's Over in Bama, State Requires EPA/DOT Certificates of Conforminty

Thankfully the MVCC here in CO has been working on legislation to protect our abilities to own and title MV's. I use mine on the farm so they are titled like work trucks and registered as farm trucks. It is funny how the DMV cycles through their restrictions. There was a time when getting...

Just because they don't leak and they stop does not mean you are good to go!!!

I know this subject has come up a lot on SS. I am probably going to say something that you all may not like but I want to say it anyway because I think it is important and I hope you all don't take it the wrong way. Maintenance is extremely important with ANY vehicle, aircraft, ship, vessle...

    Port of Entrys

As far as I know The ports of entry are for commercial vehicles or if you are transporting livestock. Any diesel dually crew cab with a light load and some passengers weighs over 10000#. I have stopped at a CO POE with my flatbed trailer on because of the same sign and the guys inside asked me...

How much did you buy your deuce for? Just Daydreaming.....

I really like dreaming about deliving pizza in a deuce. I think this is about the only way I would do it unless it was in a Ferrai. It would have to be one of the extremes. I would have to agree with the in town traffic would make the novelty wear off in about a half hour post. And I don't know...

    M-817 recovered from California

The 5 ton is non turbo. It did real well in California where there is air. It was a 25 mph truck up the steep stuff here. There is a big split between third and fourth. It just could not pull fourth. I had the M-105 on it but honestly the truck did not notice. On the other hand My deuce with...

    M-817 recovered from California

Not correct. I don't know what the highest summit is on an Interstate highway would be. Good question and I will research that......I just researched it and the highest summit on I-70 through Colorado is 11, 158 feet and that is at the Eisenhower tunnel. This is also the highest point on the...

    M-817 recovered from California

Congrats on the new truck. Those two looked like nice trucks. At least you should have a runner again. Too bad about the motor deal but that's the way it goes I guess. I can't wait to see your new truck. :-D

    M-817 recovered from California

No problem. It wanted to roll up past 45 a few times so I just hit the brakes and slowed it down to 35. Then it just rolls back up to 45 and repeat. The truck has great brakes!

    M-817 recovered from California

Thank you. I am suprised that I would have the only dumper in the club as there are a bunch of different vehicles. I am workin' on the paperwork, I really need to put on the hard top and I got an axle seal that leaked a little on the way home. I would have it ready for the 7th but I think I will...

    M-817 recovered from California

So after 4 days and 2700 mile round trip we finally got the M-817 back to the farm. It was a running condition unknown truck so we were facing driving it or spending the $3600 to have it hauled. I did a bunch of research on SS before we left about the differences between the 2.5 tons and the 5...

    surplus Deuces going bye bye

I thought we already went down that road........Cuba. I really like the nice even number of stars on Ol' Glory. I really don't want to see that change. OK. So make it a territory so we don't have to keep going to their freaking "rescue". How many times have we "helped" them out over the past...
