    Fuel tank question?????

I just replaced my tank and sending unit in my M1009: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?112182-Rapidly-clogging-fuel-filters-Sand-in-fuel&highlight= hope the thread is helpful. Short answer: 25 gallon tank is what crossreferenced to -34P. I think you could go with the 31 Gallon (the...

Rapidly clogging fuel filters... Sand in fuel?

Put the rebuilt 4524 in with new injectors... running like a champ. Basically since I've gotten this truck two years ago ever part of the fuel system except the hard lines, and most of the rubber on the return lines has now been replaced.

Rapidly clogging fuel filters... Sand in fuel?

Security 5pt torq's came in Thursday (found them cheap on Amazon). Opened the IP. There was a dusting of rust that had settled on the horizontal surfaces inside... so I had my smoking gun. On Friday I went to local stanadyne authorized shop and ordered new injectors, and gave them a...

Rapidly clogging fuel filters... Sand in fuel?

Cracked all the injectors this am... got some fuel seaping from them now, but not bubbling or squirting... been cranking the snot out of it... I replaced the IP and injectors on my civi 6.2 (really.. I helped Shade_tree do it)... and it didn't take this much cranking to prime it...

Rapidly clogging fuel filters... Sand in fuel?

Plenty of fuel flowing from tank to ip and going out return. I'm not thinking it's a supply issue. I have an electric pump near the tank.

Rapidly clogging fuel filters... Sand in fuel?

Truck still won't start... Put the new tank in and filled it with 10 gallons. Put new primary and secondary filters in and primed them with the pink wire off the IP. Put the pink wire back on, heard the click... but multiple times of no start. Put charger/starter on to make sure I...

Rapidly clogging fuel filters... Sand in fuel?

FYI Big filler neck to tank hose that LMC sent me is labeled: SOFTWALL MARINE WET EXHAUST SAEJ2006R1, 1 3/4" Smaller sending unit to filler neck 'vent' hose is: 5/8" J30R7 fuel line (though I understand 30R7 is not supposed to be exposed long term to bio diesel, but J30R9 is rated for...

Rapidly clogging fuel filters... Sand in fuel?

Sock clogged with gunk. Rusty inside. Lessons learned... just cut the old 1/4" and 3/8" fuel lines when removing the tank. The ground for the tank is by the drivers rear wheel in the M1009. Fourth line on old sending unit was for fuel removal... as new unit didn't have it, I just removed...

    Frustrating wiper fluid pump

I received my m1009 from GL with wipers that would work, but a pump that wouldn't pump... I pulled a simple resevoir with the pump mounted in it off of a late 80's GM pickup, it screwed to the fender wall near where the old resvoir was, I but spliced the wires from the old pump/motor to the new...

Rapidly clogging fuel filters... Sand in fuel?

I know.. and I posted the GM part number for the tank above... but its not cross referencing... so I was hoping that someone who made the swap would be able to state what number (GM14B = 31 Gallon or GM15B = 25 Gallon) they were sucessful using... I guess I'll just put a tape to my tank once I...

Rapidly clogging fuel filters... Sand in fuel?

I completely agree. Truck is grounded until I get the time to pull the tank... started working on the skid plate but as I welded the hitch to the bumper in an effort to reinforce the pintle mount... I have to cut the welds and pull the hitch off now. And I've got a friend in town visiting...

Rapidly clogging fuel filters... Sand in fuel?

I've had a few diesels.... and as always as they age they've gotten 'bugs' in the tanks now and then. I've always added bio shock to a nearly empty tank, refueled and repeated as necessary to kill the infection. Typically a few tanks of bio shock and a few filters and all is well. But the...

m1009 bearing problem. ... help please!

http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?73015-M1009-Wheel-bearing-servicing-and-hub-replacement&highlight= have you seen the thread above? I'm not understanding your issue... is the bearing assembly coming apart? If so new bearings are realtively cheap and easily had at most...

    Prebent fuel lines

If you use rubber it needs to be 30R9 fuel injector line... check it out and you'll find out its pretty much the only stuff rated for all types of fuel other than 30R10 (which is made to be imersed in all types of fuel) I've been getting air in my fuel... and I replaced my mech fuel pump with...

M1009 startup then "stall out" Hard 2nd start then OK

I pulled the check valve off the top of the IP off and blasted it out with some non clorinated brake cleaner... it would let the cleaner out one way, but not the other, so it seemed it was working properly.. but when I looked through it i could see a fracture in the glass ball. I pulled...
