Don't know about VA DOT laws or regulations, but the only thing I see in your excerpt that may cause concern is the phrase "or any other similar machinery or equipment of any kind or character...", which is a very vague general phrase that could apply to anything they choose to apply it to. It...
Recovery4x4's response in post #8 is right on. This information was provided to me (and the rest of my class) by our Basic Automotive Class instructor in in College in 1972. It is also why for many years disc brakes were applied only to the front wheels.
Best way to answer your question is to build an inexpensive static wheel balancer (as described in another thread on this site). Also, it looks like steve6x6x6 built himself one as the wheel and tire assembly is not mounted to a truck as seen in picture 2 of post 35 of this thread.
Basically...
I can't speak for the 5 Tons (I think that's what 923s and 925s are), but it seems that some M35A3s did not have the weights on the rears either, while others (like mine) have them on all wheels. Maybe some motor pool guys simply did not replace them when changing tires?
I think most truck...
Voltage (volts) does not kill. Current (amps) kills. If you can get enough current (milliamps, or amps) flowing through the heart (like possibly flowing from the one arm to the other), you can seriously interrupt, or even stop, the beating of the human heart... which can be considered...
If you look at the front wheel, you will see a small cap that is shaped kind of like a tee-pee. That is the splined hub cover Doghead referred to. If you jack the front wheels off the ground and remove this cap, (do NOT remove the wheel lug nuts!) the wheels can be spun freely. You then spin...
What version of Deuce do you have? It it an A2 or A3 (or other variant)? Troubleshooting suggestions will be different depending on your version.
Are these the same plates as the vehicle plates or are they different? Anyone have a photo of the trailer plate? I tried to get one but someone in Springfield changed the application from Original Military Vehicle to TC plates, which is then what they sent me (the TC plate is the correct plate...
From your description it sounds like a stuck CTIS wheel check valve. The only way air from the schrader valve would backfeed toward the CTIS manifold is if the check valve is stuck open. With the CTIS turned off or with a major leak in the CTIS feed lines, the check valve is supposed to "slam"...
All M35A3s have fully insulated hoods and side panels as built from AM General. The insulation is riveted on with long rivets through large washers for support. So it can be done if properly supported so as not to fall on anything hot.
Some here have found burnt resistors or foil paths in theirs and successfully repaired them. You might also place a parts wanted thread in the classifieds. Lots of people abandon the CTIS so there should be some available.
There is also good troubleshooting info in the TMs. Search for "M35A3...
Having driven the full length of both the Cassiar and the Alaska highways, and having driven through Fairbanks on the way to the Arctic Circle, I have a healthy respect and admiration of you and the trip you are making in your (new to you) MV!
I spent the summer of 2004 in Tok and got to...
Replaced a cracked ball valve at the Emergency gladhand. Installed new LED tail lights. Converted the Allison from motor oil to C4-Rated Dexron III using 4 Drain and Fills followed by a fifth drain, blowing out the oil cooler supply and return lines per the TM, replacing the intrernal and...
You forgot to mention that you both were now major shareholders in the CLOROX bleach company  ! Sure glad no one was hurt! Sometimes the best laid plans.....
I saw ten (10) M1070 Heavy Equipment Transporters being transported by Very Heavy Equipment Transporters through Rochelle IL yesterday... They were all loaded on flat cars and going west by rail :D ! Looked like a newer variant and probably still in active service.
JC... Trans vent was the first thing I looked for based on numerous people's experience. Well, I found it, but it wasn't where it was supposed to be (behind the cab on passenger's side) according to the TMs and other peoples descriptions. There are only two hoses there on my truck- one large one...
