A3 Front tire balance W/ Erik's lug nut fix

This is an old thread but I think its still worth mentioning that the Lug Nut Fix shown in post #14 WORKS! I placed the lug nuts as shown two weeks ago and have not had that wobble ever since! Heck... my speedometer even stopped shaking! :jumpin: Now I'm thinking I may take all my wheels in...

    M35A3 Transmision question.

Scar59... Any status update on your trans repairs? Hopefully you got 'er fixed by now. What did they find? Inquiring minds need to know! ;-) I'm in the process of converting mine to C4-rated Dexron III. Currently ready to do the 3rd drain & refill, then change both filters and refill for the...

    M35A3 Transmision question.

OK... so you did NOT convert from motor oil to Dexron III as it already had some kind of red ATF in it when you bought it. Hmmm... I wonder if this is the A3 Allison Transmission MWO I inquired about in a different post...? Anyway, you did the logical (in my opinion) PMCS thing since it...

    M35A3 Transmision question.

Thanks for the input Gary. I am aware of this info as I have spent much of my free time searching this forum on various topics... this thread included. It is clear to me that your conversion to Dexron III has been a resounding success. Also, you have provided much valuable info from Allison on...

    M35A3 Transmision question.

Are you saying that (1) the truck already had ATF in it and not Motor Oil and (2) you did a single drain and refill along with changing both internal and external filters when this happened? I'm trying to decide whether to change to Dexron III from Motor Oil using the 3-4 flush method and want...

    M35A3 Transmision question.

Geez... I've been thinking seriously about converting from MO to Dexron III using the 3-4 flush refill method recently... However... the risk of this kind of transmission failure sure gives me pause  ! Maybe the old adage "If it works... don't fix it!" holds true?

FMV Plate Bill Introduced in Illinois

OK... Now that I got the Deuce taken care of (through Mr McGath), It was time to get the M105A2 titled and plated. So, I went to the Rockford SOS CDL Facility figuring I could at least get the Title taken care of (in the event they still did not know about the FMV plates). I was pleased to...

All I can do is echo the sentiments others have expressed on the original post... Awesome:!:

    Plugging CTIS off.

Take a look at the pages 751 and 752 of TM9-2320-386-24-1-2, which can be found in the TM section of this site. It looks to me like both pipes that go to the CTIS manifold are tee'd together and go to the inside tank near the middle of the tank. There is a tee there also, and the pipe going...

M35A3 Transmission MWO? Anyone know what it is?

Last week I was on the GL web site looking at 2 1/2 ton vehicles. There was only one M35A3 up for auction between 6/11/13 and 6/13/13. It was sold out of Indianapolis for approximately $9,300 as I recall. It had a fiberglass hood and winch and appeared to be in pretty good condition. To me the...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Took the Brushgaurd (radiator grill) and botton plate off. The bottom plate was only hanging on by 1 screw since I got the truck. Hammered some of the dents out (wasn't too successful - that steel is strong!). Wire brushed the rust spots and modified the bottom plate for license plate mounting...

FMV Plate Bill Introduced in Illinois

Got Mine Today... Yipeeee! :naner::naner::naner: Simple Process... emailed Mr. McGath (NOT McGrath as mentioned in several previous posts and an easy typo to make). Received application papers, filled them out and returned them to him with my check. Got a temporary plate which I never had the...

    Brake Bleeding

Is that an aftermarket fiberglass cab top? Looks like a real nice truck... if it has the same tranny, transfer case and axles, it sure would be worth snapping it up and doing the engine swap as you seem to plan on doing. Go for it.

    Brake Bleeding

One other possibility is that the Deuce in question is a VERY old soldier (WW2 vintage) that was last rebuilt in 1966 and still has its original gasoline motor.

    Brake Bleeding

When I was a teenager I used to drive around chasing cows back across the creek onto their own property using a WW2 surplus White Halftrack. It had a White flathead six engine in it. So yes, White did make gasoline engines at one time. And yes, the humane association monitored and verified that...

FMV Plate Bill Introduced in Illinois

Well, I emailed Mr McGath today requesting an application form for FMV plates. Hopefully this will be smooth, fast an easy . My H plates expire on 6/30 and I do not get the impression from this thread that anyone has received the actual plate yet -and it has been six or more months...

    M35A3 Owners unite

Pete, Thanks for the kind remarks. I was really blessed when I won this Deuce last August. Only serious deficiencies were a rotted cab cover (already replaced) and a major CTIS leak in the front rear axle. I hope to have the CTIS leak fixed by July :)

M35A3 Guide to CTIS Information in the TMs

Recently a member asked which TM contained the information on the CTIS system used in the M35A3, M36A3 and M109A4 (M44A3 series) trucks. The information is there, but it is scattered throughout the Technical Manuals (TMs). I have dug through them and compiled a reference listing that can...

Which of the TMs is for the CTIS system??

Sounds like you have a bad check valve. That is the round 3 port device under the "hubcap". In normal operation you can fill the tire from either the CTIS or from the valve stem. HOWEVER, the CTIS can also deflate the tire. It does this (as I understand it) by sending short pulses of high...

    M35A3 Owners unite

Well, my "Little Deuce Coupe" got to stretch her legs today on a trip to Sparta for the purpose of recovering my newly won M105A2 trailer. This was a 400 mile round trip consisting of mostly interstate driving. The trip was uneventful and the only activity needed for the recovery was to fill up...
