One of my contacts that is doing a complete restoration of his Sugga stumbled on the fact that the 1954-57 Sugga uses the same speedometer gauge set as the 1938 Buick Specials. That's the only year Buick used this design apparently, not before or after.
The Buick gauges are on the left, my...
Yes, I'm keeping the black wheels for the time being --- might get some different custom wheels fabbed up at a later date that are closer to what I really want.
The rear shackles are being covered with a body panel, (although part of me actually likes having that stuff out in the open).
I will...
Hi Ryden,
The current plan is OD green. Specifically FS 24052, which is a semi gloss dark forest green, over black primer. I'm still tempted to use the 4-color M90 scheme. The green I'm using is close enough to pass for the dark grön in the M90 pattern, so I'll still have an M90 scheme as...
Rapco sells the Gillespie Coatings Post-Vietnam sand color - 30227
There's a photo of the spray can result in sunlight here:

The longshoreman are there to load and unload cargo, not to clean vehicles. The vehicles have to be clean when they are brought to port. Mine was not steam cleaned, but there were absolutely no visible chunks of dirt and crud.
Here's a link to a 2 minute video showing some of the big...
I think it is most likely a 6. In Photoshop, if I take the 9 and turn it over into a 6, it fits the partial outline better than your other options.
Here is a pic showing a semi-transparent flipped over 9 in that spot. Look at the upper portion of the 6 in particular. None of the other numbers...
They frequently move heavy equipment by RORO --- all kinds of tracked vehicles, cranes, tractors, big trucks, you name it. So, it is possible. You could always have the seller/shipper post some written instructions in the vehicle if you think it would help.
I for one would really like to see your project here!
It's fairly easy to add photos to your posts. In the "Quick Reply" area, scroll down until you see the "Manage Attachments" button --- you can then choose files from your computer to upload for your post. Or, if you are in "Go Advanced"...
I like different too; the whole genesis of this project was to have a very unique daily driver.
There are at least two dozen Volvo TP-21 Suggas in the US. They range in condition from some rotting away to dust in junkyards, to a couple in more or less original condition, to highly modified...
Yes, a container is much more expensive. You pay by the cubic foot of space, so with a container, you may be paying for all the extra headroom above your vehicle. There are also additional loading/unloading fees associated with getting your vehicle in the container and then getting the...
I like the Strata Blue.
I'm not an expert, but I think '53 was a transition year, and you could easily find trucks with either ORD. CORPS or USAF as responsible agency on data plates from that era.
Have you seen this thread?

Sounds good, Kochevnik!
Will they be delivering the vehicle to you, or are you planning to pick it up at the port? If you're planning to pick it up, that's another area where it pays to have an experienced hand. You need a person with a TWIC (Transportation Worker ID Credential) to get into...
By the strict reading of the commercial vehicle definition, you are fine.
Your quote: "The definition of a commercial vehicle they say:
Commercial vehicle shall mean any vehicle intended, designed or used for transportation of people or goods in a commercial venture AND on which is displayed...
