    Volvo Sugga Restoration underway

Here's a pic of my Sugga restoration --- this is a test fit of the Sugga body on a shortened F250 frame. She rides a little higher. We're still playing with rim choices. We are trying to find a custom rim that would mimic the look of an M37 wheel and pull the wider tires in a bit.

    Ellsworth Deuce Recovery

Congrats on the new deuce, Glen. I grew up in Rapid City. My Dad's last army assignment was advisor to SD Natl Guard --- so that coyote silhouette on your truck looks real familiar. I visited Ellsworth all the time too. But I don't need that -11* stuff anymore. I like visiting the...

    New guy from Sweden

Hej 66Swede!, Yes, Rolf is moving quickly without any prodding from me. It's great to have a motivated mechanic! He loves working on Volvos and is eager to keep things moving along. That picture of the snowy Sugga is great. Takes me back to my days growing up in South Dakota. Brrrr...

    Volvo Sugga Restoration underway

The restoration of my TP21 Volvo Sugga is underway. We have a donor truck (Ford F250) that will supply a 7.3L Powerstroke diesel to replace the 90 hp inline 6 that the Sugga was originally built with. Here are a few photos from the disassembly phase for the sugga. BBF TX Www.volvosugga.org

City ordinance......What do you guys think?

Eric, Here is your municipal police FAQ that mentions the 5 ton definition: Granite City, Illinois Here are your ordinances that define a "truck" 10.02.420 - Truck. "Truck" means every motor vehicle designed, used or maintained primarily for the transportation of property, or for commercial...

City ordinance......What do you guys think?

Idea 1: Granite City's definition of a "truck" is one weighing over 5 tons. If your bobbed deuce weighs under 5 tons it's not subject to that ordinance . How much does your deuce weigh? Idea 2: go talk to someone at city hall or the local po-po (police) and check. Worst they can do is...

Volvo TP 21 Sugga Camo Pattern

The version of the Swedish camo I like the best is the 3-color pattern, which came into use starting around 1990. Some units started dropping the light brown from the original 4-color pattern. Am thinking of using this 3-color version when I repaint the Sugga. The 3 color really makes this...

Volvo TP 21 Sugga Camo Pattern

I got a laugh while researching the camo pattern used on my recently acquired Volvo TP-21 Sugga radio car. In the late 1970's I believe, Swedish military began using the 4-color, sharp line, geometric pattern camo that is found on many ground vehicles and aircraft. It is often referred to...

1954 Volvo TP21 Sugga direct from Sweden

The truck pictures were sent to me by a private owner of one of the 912 trucks. There are lots of different websites devoted to particular military vehicle in Europe. The Volvos seem to have their individual followings not only in Sweden, but in Germany, Norway, France, etc. Sometimes these...

1954 Volvo TP21 Sugga direct from Sweden

The Sugga does run Pawnshop, but I'm starting the resto right away. If you want a foregin MV, one to consider is a Volvo 6x6 truck, called a 912. Simliar front end to a Sugga, (but the parts aren't interchangeable). I could get one in good shape for you from Sweden! Pictures below...

1954 Volvo TP21 Sugga direct from Sweden

Hey Dave, Sugga's are 4 speed plus reverse. Also a high/low gearbox. And, separate engagement of front wheels for 4wd. Max speed is 90 km/h, but that "excessive" speed was frowned upon. Generally, army drivers were told to keep it under 65 or 70 km/h I'm told by Rolf, my Swedish mechanic...

1954 Volvo TP21 Sugga direct from Sweden

Hey 319, cool pics. Glad a Sugga made it to the GLMVPA show. No radio gear left in mine, but you can see the old radio table in the rear compartment in my pictures below. Pawnshop, it will likely be months before the work on my TP21 is done, so you'll have a bit of a wait to see my vehicle...

1954 Volvo TP21 Sugga direct from Sweden

Thanks for the welcome guys. Quarkz, this is number 125, built in Nov '54. I've not yet sent info to the SuggaRegistry at Terrangbil.net. There are actually at least two other "registries" out there. There seems to be minimal overlap and many of the entries in all of them seem to be out of...
