Ordered my new axle today and also the metal for my new tongue.

Metal for new Tongue

I sometimes think of doing that with my trailer. It is time intensive but in the end you have something you want and suits your needs better. That is kind of like the Bobbed deuce guys, it is a lot of work and cutting up a good deuce but they get what they will use and want. Personally I would...
Ok here is my input and take it however. I picked up a quasi M101 A2 from GL a couple months ago with plans to turn into a expo trailer/ hauler to tow behind my 4 Runner. I say quasi because it has an A1 box, A2 axle and tongue, A3 main frame. I recently sold the complete axle and a-frame tongue...
The quick short answer is No they wont. The new 1101 and 1102 trailers are an 8x8 square trailer. They will be to wide to work on the M101 trailers. I also believe the stake pockets are different spacing as well.
Agree and disagree. The disagree is if it went to rebuild then they will sometimes assign the rebuild date as the new build date and will keep the original nomenclature. Agree because it was originally built much earlier and should keep the same build date. The other option is it could be a...
I drove the 915's for years and most would do 62-65 being pushed, a few that would get a little closer to 70. They are geared and set up to be reliable and comfortable(power/ engine wear/ mileage[ not ride]) at 55mph. We did have a few that had the CAT 16speed in them and they would leave the...
You can also use a new gear oil pump to pump the fluid in like you do for your transfer case or differential. Keyword being New since you don't want to cross contaminate your fluids.
It depends on location you are bidding at and how many they have of each at the time. I notice the ones nearest me barstow, go for almost 2-3 times what they do at Nellis another 100miles away. When I got my M101 I got it from Nellis and drove the extra few miles. Big thing is watch the type of...
Looking at my lights you should be able to just remove the two bolts on back and rotate the light and bolt back in place. You should not have to undo any wiring. however you are correct in that it is just 5 leads with plugs per light.
I really wanted the M416 for the size since I am going to be building an expedition off-road trailer. I could not find anywhere close to reasonable on price so I got an M101 now.
great find and keep up the good work. I wish I had the space to work on my stuff like you do.
Currently it sits nice and level with my tow vehicle. The max coupler is quieter because there is no play in it. The lunette Pintle combo can get sloppy(noise) and the jerking motion can add to drive train and frame wear on the TV. Also if you notice the factory Lunette is in line with the...
I am thinking of removing the A-frame drawbar on my M101 A2 and making my own tongue. I will be using this as an expedition style camp trailer on off-road trails. I am already planning on swapping to a Dexter 3500# trailer axle with electric brakes and hand parking brakes(original levers). I am...
Roady- congrats on the smooth recovery. I hope the build out of your trailers goes well and look forward to progress pictures. Your thread is not a continuation. I believe what 12Vman is saying is that people talking about the Maine registration might be considered talking about an existing...
That is a good idea. Simple, no cost and adds to the safety/ visibility of the trailer. The only question I have is: Aren't your turn signals backwards now? :-P
Yes I know you unhooked and then reconnected the wiring and not just put the lights with wiring connected on opposite sides. I just...
My EUC cleared about two weeks after I got the letter. All in all it was under 30 days. Sad thing is none of the M101's the last auction cycle required EUC's this last event.
Having an A2 bed on an M116A3 chassy is more obvious due to the HMMWV wheels sticking out to far. My 101 A2 has an A1 box on it since the A2 had the loops. in each corner for lifting/ sling load.
Also if you look on the GL auction page for a M105 it will show you the approx shipping size. The main thing is that uness you have a Topkick, F650 or larger vehicle with air brakes the 105 simply is not practical.
M101- designed for 1.25 ton truck to pull(M37)
M105- designed for 2.5 ton or...
He is asking how do you keep it from being stolen after you have it hooked up.
Honestly if it is hooked up and they really want to steal the trailer they will just take the combined vehicle/ trailer. It is a lot quicker to drive off with a vehicle then it is to unhook the trailer, maneuver it...
