How do low gears lessen engine load?

Actually I can understand the forces at play large vehicles. I also have faith that most of the people that are taking the time to modify these trucks are educating themselves on them if not they woudnt be on this site seeking advice. I have been driving big trucks on and off-road for 22 years...

    Trailer lean Question.

I would look at both springs and compare the two. You could have anything from a bent frame(easily checked with square and level), broken or weak spring pack, frozen/ rustes solid shackle to a bent stuck shock. the last two would be restricting movement and not letting one side settle or return...

How do low gears lessen engine load?

So based on this you feel that all vehicles are perfectly engineered and no need to find an improvement? Or that all vehicles are designed to meet everyones need or use and therefor no need to be modified to better meet ones needs or use? So the Jeep owner that puts a lift kit with larger tires...

What seems to be the time for first time buyers EUC

I won my Auction August 18th, submitted EUC on the 22nd and just received my Paid In Full/EUC cleared e-mail this morning 9/13. This was my first purchase from GL. Not sure if it is the same for all EUC's or if time frames vary based on vehicle type but mine was a M101 A2 trailer.

How do low gears lessen engine load?

It is all about mechanical advantage, 4x4 enthusiasts do it all the time. There is a trade off at some point so you need to do the research. Basically you are dealing with % of load on the engine(how hard the engine has to work at a given RPM). Also remember that it takes Torque to get the...

Wrecker (Bomb) Crane on a M105A2?

I think it would be great for Engines, larger tires, and the list goes on. Very handy indeed.

    Soon to own M101 A2

I think for the recovery portion I will keep this thread going. Harley- It will be a while before I start my build. To many things needing my money first. Tires for my tow rig, will get the new ones for trailer at same time or just keep two of the better ones for the trailer. A few other...

    Soon to own M101 A2

Well two days after my trip to Vegas I finally got my EUC cleared. Now to schedule a trip back out there to pick up my M101A2 from Nellis. Sure would have been nice to combine the two trips. Should I post a new thread for the recovery or just keep this one going?

    After Market landing gear

I like the one with the wheel for a couple reasons. If I need to move it around the driveway, just release parking brakes and push. Also when hooking up if you are slightly off and bump it the front will move easier without as much fear of folding the foot. I know that sometimes having a solid...

    My M101A2 restoration thread.... pics

Looking good so far. More of a rebuild then restoration. Personally I don't mind since that is what I plan on doing with mine. Just from reading some of the other threads on here others may make a bigger issue of it being called a restoration since you are not returning to original factory as...

    Accuracy of Weight on Dataplate

Fudge- I was not saying your bedliner was shoddy. I havn't seen it to tell you the quality. I was mentioning the standard average thicknesses applied in my area. I have been told by people that apply spray in liners that anything less and you didnt get your monies worth. I also mentioned two...

How do I post a classified ad?

New member of just a couple weeks. It does not take much to hit the post count. I have been reading thread after thread trying to educate myself on the trailer I bought and then threads on vehicles I am familiar with from my Military career. When you have a question or valid input simply post a...

    4 Litter ambulance bodies

Not sure of the worth, but I don't think it would be that hard to get rid of them. I look at all the people building expedition trucks and trailers with the 250 shelters and think the 4 liter bodies would be as good or better option. Are these the newer HMMWV bodies or the ones for the 10## CUCV...

    Accuracy of Weight on Dataplate

I have weighed hundreds of pieces of equipment and have not found much variation in weight from the data plate. I was the movement officer for both my deployments and did rail, ship and air of all unit equipment. I have not picked up my 101 yet and neither deployment did I take a 101 trailer so...

    Accuracy of Weight on Dataplate

X2 Spray on bedliner can add that much. The information on the Data plate is usually pretty good. Reason beig that it is that basis for load out for Rail, Truck, Air. Yes I kow that each piece will be weighed for Center load and balance prior to shipmet but that is also to account for any load...

    M101A2 tire options?

Michigan- I am running an 8" rim on my tow vehicle and plan on putting matching rims on the trailer. Yes putting a 285 o a 6.5 in rim will get you sidewall buldge but there are tons of people that do it all the time.

    M101A2 tire options?

The 255/85 isd the size I would love to run on my next set as well. I am currently running 285/75's and while they are nice I want to go a little skinnier and hopefully have a slightly lower rolling resistance. Unfortunatley budget looks like it is dictating another set of 285/75 AT's.
