Hello
A friend of mine just bought a nice looking M51A2 tipper. We live in the Netherlands and it seems to be a problem when the truck is newer than 1966 in order to get it streetlegal licensed. Can anybody tell me how to figure out the chassisnumer or the hoodnumber? Chassis: 5123-12496...
No airbubbles when bleeding. Filters are okay. I replaced the steel high pressure line # 5 cylinder with an original (+ same length) line.
When idling I loosened each line (not all at once) at the injector to check for a difference in rpm and each one did make a difference in idling so I figured...
My M36A2 had starting trouble before and I replaced the distrubiting(?) pump. (not the one in the tank). Several months ago I used it for the last time when I noticed that the fuel line off the fifth cylinder was broken so fuel all over the engine. I replaced the line but now, after sitting for...
12 volts.
dual airco (front and rear), dual heater, 350 cid, AT, 4x4, PS, dual rear wheels, did have PTO winch but that ain't there anymore.
I'll look for other numbers tomorrow; perhaps there might be some inside.
Well, it says 3500 on it..
I took it to my workshop yesterday so I can start restoring it. It had been sitting for 6 years now. It started right up, I pumped up some tires and drove it home. What a fun, driving this!
No, at idling only smoke comes out of the exhaustpipe. Tough to see it because it is not black or blue or so, like you just see the background/air moving. I checked all over the enginecompatriment and everything looks fine. When I remove the oilfillercap no blowing from there, the breating?pipe...
I do that too. Works fine.
I first go check the valveclearance and after that I will go for a ride and see how it does.
The rpm is nice and low now; the idlingscrew was loose... At the inspectionstation they said they adjusted the engine a little but they seemed to forget to tighten the...
Well, yesterday I picked the truck up from the inspection/MOT and drove it home. It again keeps running on high idle like 1500 rpm. Sometimes it hesistates, coughs a few times and spurrs away again.
I think I'll start with the injectors...
Easy? Well, I've asked before at different places and so far no answer... Thanx!
There is a tag in the cab that says complete overhauling in 1989 in Kaiserslautern etc.
In 2000 it was auctioned off among more of those trucks (±60) and sold to a person in Belgium. They were sold for $ 210 each...
Well, in that case you might be able to tell me about my M36A2
It's hoodnumber is 04J05871
M36A2
repainted several times by me but original number still there, also on tag in cab.
