Unless you just have to have a military genset, the surpluss telecom units are a Much better deal. Most of them are propane, which is better to have from a maintenance perspective. Also, most come with the automatic transfer switch mounted inside of them.
I like that idea. Pretty shure the wife might not agree. So, best not to tell her before hand. Much easier to get forgivness than permission.
I would like to have a USAF A2 with the dual break system and electric wipers. Since I already have tow bar with feet, can always use one to tow the...
Very true, however, most Reese type hitches will not tolerate any sideloading whatsoever. Also, many SS owners, like me, aré not capable of lifting and mounting an 18k winch with all the necesary hardware for reese hitches. So, two wenches are requiered for safe operación.
Should you decide not to join up with a local club, I'm shure that most, if not all of them would love to do your project as a fund raising event for the club.
I agree that both front and rear witches are.the best. However, the comment that you only want to keep going forward implies that you must go that way to get out of trouble. This is usually true with rock climbing. This is usually not true if you are bogging and discover the way forward is...
No disrespect to Superwinch, they make a good product. However, for a little more $, the Warn provides a better winch, and they have shown to have great customer service--rather pricey, but very timely service. They actuality really do call you back if/when necessary. I had an excellent...
The winch on the front is best used to recover other people. One one back is best to recover yourself. I have not yet been able to mount the one I bought for the back. As the Warn 18k is said to be "sealed", would it be ok to mount it upside down? Otherwise, operating the forward, freewheel...
Given your current circumstances, you should join one of the local MV clubs. Most of them have the needed equipment, knowlege, willing club members, and regular work days for projects such as yours. A great chance to meet fellow enthusiasts.
Many also participate in parades and static...
There are well over 20,000 hits on the A3 stuff. It is well past time for there to be a seperate A3 forum from the A2 forum.
Moderators, PLEASE create a forum just for the A3. Yes, there is plenty of overlap between the A3 and A2. However, there are a great many A3 specific things that...
That is a very broad request. What are you specifically looking for?
1. Camo pattern and colors?
2. Where to purchase the correct color paint?
3. How to transfer the correct pattern to the vehicle?
4. Someone with a compressor and spray gun to come over and shoot it for you?
5. Or...
And, don't forget to post plenty of pictures of your progress. I'd much rather use the engine you have than buying another one that you don't know its true condition and history.
Other than price, is there any reason not to use one of the complete systems made for the 2 1/2 ton Rockwells that are popular with the rock crawlers? One in particular looks very nice to me--all brackets, bolts, everything except the pump mounting bracket, belt, and pully mod.
I travel alot and check Craigslist everywhere I go. Now and then run across a.good deal on the 24 volt 18k Warn. Last year there was a guy in FL with a pallet full for $800 each, complete.
Hmm... Not enough info to.answer. How deep are your pockets? How much load.do you need to supply? Why diesel and not natural gas or propane?
Would you want manual or automatic transfer switch?
If you have a LARGE generator, those all have an adjustable field voltage. When you over excite your field, it creates capacitive reactance, which will.make your PF better. I.e. more beer.and less foam for any given horsepower.
Remember ELI the ICE man? Voltage leads current in a reactive...
That is correct. All you should be concerned with is the amp.draw on your generator. The voltage may droop.a.little, but it is amps.that will trip your output breaker.
Unless you have a means to adjust your Powerfactor...
