That specific unit is going on auction tommorow only - I think the lister is trying to see if he can get a buyer before he bids for it on the auction - obviously hasn't been paying attention to the frequency. There's a number of 813's going up for auction on 4/25 on govplanet. Starting bid is...
No, the hard start kit comes out based on their instructions - regardless if it's factory or aftermarket. I just crimped female spade connectors on the soft start unit's wires and it pretty much just clipped in place. The run wire was the only one that had to be but spliced onto the soft start...
The short version is - a hard start gives it a voltage kick to spin up the compressor quicker, a soft start is more of a gradual ramp. Cost wise a hard start kit is a lot cheaper ($80 vs $380).
Here's a good writeup.

So I went ahead and jumped in with both feet and got a soft start kit from MicroAir.net I bought the 368 unit which is rated for up to 6ton units. The results are quite drastic. The startup peak amps went from 121 Amps with the hard start kit, to a peak of 32 Amps when the compressor fires up...
What would I search for on ebay to locate said gasket kit (LPW4?). Do you have to replace the packing they reference as well ? (Item 15 Part no.601-20691 - Packing - Sleeve Clinch) Is it included in the kit ?
I've got a slight drip at the bottom of the front gasket behind the water pump on my MEP 803. It looks like item 12 on figure 3 on the parts guide (part no. 186-6180). The gasket can be bought on it's own or part of 1 of two kits.
I really have two questions -
1) Is it possible that the leaky...
The float gauge position is adjustable. The collar that holds the sensor tube at the top can be loosened and the tube itself can be adjusted. There's a few obstacles it can get hung up on inside the tank - the fuel pickup is one, the side of the tank is the other.
Detailed description of the solution.
Sorry - should have posted the solution.
For the Inovahightech autostart controller board one the MEP803a or MEP802a without the K-Ext relay for cool down the following connections need to be made in order for the controller board to engage the load after...
Loaded it up this morning using the HVAC as the improvised load bank. The main HVAC gave me a load of around 43 amps per leg, and around 5200 watts. I ran the MEP with this load after letting it warm up for 5 minutes. I ran this load for 10 minutes and then added the 2nd HVACs heat.
The 2nd...
Glad to report that cleaning S8 did the trick. She now holds the large heating element without any issues and I added the secondary air handler on the smaller AC unit's heating element which allowed me to push the load up to 125% and she just kept chugging along without hitting overload...
I learned that the hard way with a boat ignition switch that was badly corroded - I ended up replacing everything in the ignition circuit from starter motor, solenoids relays etc. Problem turned out to be the cheapest and last part I replaced - the ignition switch itself - I started replacing...
On the to-do list - I've ordered a bunch of replacement fasteners as I had to cut some rusted fast fasteners when I removed the front top section just after I got the unit to address a diesel leak and do a fluid changeout. I will open up the back section over the next week or two to install the...
So she doesn't hold 75% load for too long.
Being in South Florida we don't do a lot of heating, but when we do its electric for most part. The heating unit tied to the air handler that drives the 5 ton ac is capable of producing decent load (9.6kw @ 42 Amps). So I fired it up this morning...
