What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Here is the color label on the Behr paint that I used.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Thanks. I didn't dilute it all...straight out of the bucket, sprayed with my Graco sprayer, the same one I use to paint houses and barns. I did use a 213 tip which produces about a 6 inch spray fan and pretty low pressure setting to reduce blow back. Went over most of it three times and used...

Tire Cradle to Paint Rims (9.00x20s)

Yep, find a window or siding guy and buy 10' of aluminum trim coil to cut down and hold on the tire/wheel like the picture shows. Can't get much simpler than that. Also, keep a can of Goof Off handy and it will wipe off any spots of overspray from the tires.

    Color identification please

Haha...seems I opened myself up to some "Saturday Morning Live" comedians. ;) That's ok, I'd been beating my head against the counter at the paint store. Looks like 34807 is the color I was looking for...thanks for the help and the laughs. The tailgate of the '09 was beginning to look like a...

    Color identification please

Yes, I know it's green, but I've tried several HD samples trying to get it to that look without much luck it seems. Maybe it's just the way it looks in this pic. To me, it has a lot more of a tan/sand tone to it than the way olvie drab looks...but I might be a tad bit color blind too.

    Bed liner in m1009?

Aren't the bedliners awfully hard to keep clean as well? I would think dust/dirt/mud would be a b_ _ _ _ to clean out. Even the spray on Rustoleum Bedliner product feels like fine grit sandpaper to me. I don't plan on being that hard on mine so I'm just cleaning the floor up, POR-15 on any areas...

    Exterior Latex/Acrylic House Paints

Aren't the Porch & Floor/Patio paints pretty glossy? All of them I've ever used have been and the only ones that have ever held up over any period of time have been the oil based paints. I know there are latex versions out there and they have a much lower sheen to them, but I wouldn't expect...

    Doorless

Good write-up link there. Should be able to fab up a set of "safari doors" like I had for my jeep too, which would take care of the "no door" thing and also a place for a mirror. Might have to add this to my list. ;)

Found a m1009 in junk yard today

I need a front shackle (clevis) if there is still one available. Let me know. Thx.

    Swivel darn you! (M1009 Pintle)

Same issue with mine on the '85 M1009. Greased it and a LOT of PB Blaster. Haven't tried removing the cotter pin and backing the nut off a bit, but will try that now.

menards or lowes have a paint that works?

I agree with the above replies. "Any" of the major brand paints are gonna work just fine...Behr, Porter, SW, Valspar...etc. They are all quality paints so it's really just deciding on the color. I have a paint contracting business and I couldn't tell you how many metal store front facades we've...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Changed both door locks this morning. First one was a PITA figuring out the little clip and working inside a small space like that. Other side took about 5 minutes. ;) Spent some tme cleaning up the interior and getting it ready to paint.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Did a little sanding on the drivers side, removed passenger seat and rear seat in prep for painting interior and exterior soon I'm hoping. Also used clorox/water to kill/remove the Mississippi mold/mildew. Works on trucks just like it does on houses, quick and easy.

Holes in transfer case on M1009

Okay, so I got back down to the shop this morning, under the truck and started cleaning out the "holes". When I dug deeper into the first one, out comes a big worm larva of some kind stuck to the end of my pick. I'm like "wth" is that doing in there...kept picking it out and here is another one...
