Thank you, great suggestions and info, just what I was looking for! My thoughts are leaning to using a spare set of front bumper shackles welded directly to a 3" tube. If inverted I'll check to see if the shackles will clear under rear the bumperets (sp?).
I need to pull the engine from the...
Hey fellow SS members,
I need to fabricate a gin pole for the front of our 5 ton. Intended purpose is to lift a 1,500 lb load. What size pipe and wall thickness is advised? I plan to modify tow bar feet to mount to the bumper. Not really sure how long the legs will need to be, maybe 12 - 15'. I...
I recently sold my M221 to another SS member, but still have the M215. I try to purchase spare parts when ever available.
Over the years I have been able to purchase
Spare engine
1 & 1/2 trannys
Radiator
Driveline parts, shafts, u - joints
Steering gear
Brake parts, several air-paks, rebuild...
I would try removing the front drive shaft first. Maybe removing one of the rear axle shafts next? Our M215 will roll in low when you take your foot off the brakes, high takes a little blip of the throttle to roll.

I think you are referring to REB shift kit manufactured by Memphis Equipment Co. But you can call yours Rebecca if you prefer. This allows you to manually shift / select gear for the GMC Hydromantic. If I remember correctly MECO stopped production a couple years ago. I have one in our M215...
Graves Rally
I had a great time! This was our halftrack's first real opportunity to have been driven any length since completion. I really enjoyed giving everyone rides and buzzing past the Graves main lodge.

I'm running a 885-FFG originally set for a M35 on our M215. NDT is correct, the linkage had to be reversed. Check the tag stamp on the carb M211 (G749) / M35 (G742). I was told the M35 carb has larger jets.
More progress
Getting ready for first parade later this week, Orange Co. (VA) Fireman's parade. Next project is to install the repro gas tanks, seat cushions and finish the speedo. One step at a time.
I was just thinking about this, my youngest daughter and I did some hiking this past weekend around camp Hoover. We stopped in Graves main lodge, they have this on the coming events board.
Hey Dirt71,
Check your rear idler axles / pivots for excessive wear. Ours where worn to the point that it allowed the rear idlers to "toe" in. The outer halves of our rear idler sprockets were almost worn through buy the track center guides. I was able to find replacements for everything since...
Check the in-tank fuel filter screens, bad in-tank fuel pump? Clogged fuel lines, modern gasoline gum up your carb? Read the TMs, very helpful, good luck.
Looks like it was originally a M2 updated to M2A1. Pic #2 of the armor pile shows the mounting holes for the early skate rail. Pic #1 of the complete haftrack shows evidence of the pulpit mount above the windsheild armor. Early style rear idler tension springs and fender mounted head lights...
Pull the rear axle shafts and front hub flanges. Quick way to determine if the issue is locked difs or or stuck brakes. Caution, the axles could be under stain / torque and may spin when released. Don't know about gearing changes.
Good luck.
